Too Late She Already Married Mr. Right (Sophia) novel Chapter 84

Chapter 84

Sophia strutted into Yadel Group in high heels and an oversized black suit.

The moment she entered the company, she drew everyone’s attention. It wasn’t until she was led into the CEO’s office that the staff of the secretarial office began whispering.

“Is that Ms. Evans? I didn’t recognize her at first. She looks so different.”

“It is her. I remember the mole under her right eye.”

“She’s way better than Emily. Why would Mr. Westwood choose Emily over her?”

“Who knows? If I were a man, I would marry Ms. Evans.”

“Same here.”

After Sophia entered the CEO’s office, Billy, seated on the couch, gestured for her to sit.

Soon, the assistant brought in two cups of coffee and quietly closed the door on the way out.

Sitting across from Billy, Sophia picked up her coffee and sipped it.

Billy placed a check on the coffee table and slid it toward Sophia. “I’m sorry for what you’ve been through lately. This is 3 million dollars. Please take it.”

Sophia didn’t even glance at the check. Instead, she studied Billy through the rising steam.

Billy was tall and handsome. Years of power had given him a natural air of authority. To the public, he had always been the perfect, devoted husband, but Sophia had once caught him flirting with the maid after she married into the Westwood family.

She remembered the maid, Juliana Wilson, who had a son who had just come of age. He was delicate and handsome, bearing a striking resemblance to Billy, just like Lucas.

She thought, ‘If Helen ever discovered that her perfect husband Billy had an affair with the maid, and that their son was already grown, how would she feel? Surely she’d be too distracted to meddle in my affairs.

While Sophia was debating when to tell Helen, Billy went on. “I’ve spoken with Taylor from the R&D Department. You can join them directly.”

It was only by chance, when he stumbled upon Sophia working in the R&D Department, that he learned she had been involved in the development of new products over the past three years.

He had thought she only knew a little, but Taylor told him she was well–suited for research.

Taylor explained that several times, when their ideas had hit a wall and progress stalled, it was Sophia’s ideas that helped them break through.

Billy had thought about moving her to the R&D Department so she could focus on research, but he also wanted her in Marketing to bring in more money for Yadel Group.

Later, he decided these things didn’t conflict. He believed Sophia could handle lab work, her marketing duties, and still visit him and Helen as a thoughtful daughter–in–law at the same time.

He didn’t want to lose such a hardworking, compliant family member, so he had always been tolerant of her.

That was why he was so angry with Lucas. If Lucas hadn’t disappointed Sophia, Billy wouldn’t have needed to exhaust himself trying to fix things between them.

Sophia played dumb. “Mr. Westwood, I’ve already resigned. Besides, I don’t know much about the R&D Department’s work. I’d just hold them back.”

Billy smiled reassuringly. “Sophie, you don’t need to understand their work. Just do the research. Don’t worry about anything else.”

Sophia finally understood why Billy’s attitude toward her had shifted so drastically. He had realized her worth, and that was the only reason he was fighting to keep her from divorcing Lucas.

However, she wasn’t about to give him what he wanted. Over the years, she had given so much and received so little, never once voicing a complaint. She thought they would be grateful.

She said, “Mr. Westwood, I majored in Economics in college. I don’t know the first thing about research. I can’t take on a role like that.”

He couldn’t believe for a second that Sophia had any talent for scientific research.

Billy’s expression darkened. “It seems you truly know nothing about your wife.”

“Dad, do you even hear yourself? There’s no way she could be doing research,” said Lucas.

Billy could hardly believe he had raised such a foolish son, but if he wanted to keep Sophia, he had no choice but to keep persuading Lucas.

Billy said, “Fine, forget the research. She’s a marketing genius. In just three years, she rose from assistant to manager of the Marketing Department. That alone proves her ability. Do whatever you can to stop her from divorcing you. I want to keep

her here.”

Lucas blinked, still confused. “What can I possibly do?”

“Doesn’t she love you? Just drop your ego and think about how to please her. I’m certain she still has feelings for you,” Billy said in exasperation.

Lucas was speechless.

Billy grew furious at Lucas‘ dismissive expression. “Did you hear me?”

“Got it. I’ll give it a try tonight,” Lucas muttered.

As soon as Sophia stepped out of the building, she saw Harley waiting by the curb. A strange feeling struck her, and when she glanced around, she saw a black Rolls–Royce parked not far away.

The window slid down, showing half of a face–handsome enough to make anyone stop breathing for a second.
