Too Late She Already Married Mr. Right (Sophia) novel Chapter 85

Remembering how she had left without a word last time, Sophia felt a bit embarrassed.

Richard had rescued her, found someone to look after her, and even played chess with her when he had free time. She later realized he had been letting her win, but the ease and unspoken understanding between them had been a pleasant surprise.

Sophia smiled as she walked toward him. “Mr. Sterling, it’s been a while. Are you here for another deal with Yadel Group?”

The last time Richard had shown up here, it had been for business talks, so Sophia assumed that must be the reason for his visit today as well.

Richard remained silent, his eyes fixed on her for a long moment.

Standing in the sunlight, Sophia wore a tailored designer suit, a slim belt cinched at her waist. She looked sharp yet elegant, no trace of weakness left–just pure drive.

“Are you doing alright?” he asked softly.

Sophia froze, emotion choking her throat. She had been badly hurt, but Charles and Margaret hadn’t cared, and Lucas had brushed her aside. And yet this man, someone she barely knew but who held real power, was the only one to ask if she was okay.

She cleared her throat softly, suppressing the sting in her chest. “I’m fine. I’ve fully recovered.”

“Good,” Richard replied.

They didn’t know each other well, and after saying that, they ended up staring at each other awkwardly.

Sophia noticed he was wearing the same black suit as before, but paired with a burgundy tie, looking incredibly sharp, like a model from a magazine cover.

Noticing her gaze on his tie, Richard felt slightly uneasy and ran a hand over it. “How is it? Does it look okay?”

Sophia froze, looking at him in confusion. “What?”

“The tie,” Richard replied simply. “Annabelle mentioned it was a gift from you. You remember that, right?”

She remembered. When she had been choosing a gift, she had ruled out ties first among all the options, but after David took her away, Annabelle had selected the tie on her behalf.

She wanted to deny it was her choice. “Of course, I remember. I just didn’t think this bright color would look good on you.”

After speaking, Sophia lowered her head in a shy gesture. She realized that her comment had turned the air between them a bit flirtatious.

Richard looked at her with a playful glint in his eyes. “Ms. Evans, have you ever given a tie to anyone else before?”

Sophia thought about it for a second, then shook her head with conviction. “No, never.”

She had given many gifts to Lucas, and also prepared presents for Charles and David, but she had never once given anyone

a tie.

Maybe, in her eyes, a tie was just a very special kind of gift.

“Then don’t ever give this to anyone else,” Richard said softly. “I don’t like receiving gifts that others get too.”

Sophia was speechless, thinking. “This is the first time I’ve ever seen someone make demands about a gift they received:

However, Sophia playfully winked at him. “Got it, Mr. Sterling.”

Lucas happened to see this while standing by the floor–to–ceiling window, looking down. From that distance, he could only see Sophia speaking with a gentle smile, but he couldn’t see who was in the car.

He recognized the car. It was the exact same Rolls–Royce Sophia had taken the other day.

Lucas looked extremely agitated, “Cancel the meeting. Find out immediately where Sophia has gone.”

Kevin watched him storm into the elevator, puzzled. He had no idea who had made Lucas so angry.

Upon receiving the order, Kevin immediately sent someone to find out where Sophia was, terrified of making Lucas even

more furious.

As Lucas drove out of the parking lot, the bustling streets no longer held any sign of the Rolls–Royce Phantom. Enraged, he slammed his fist against the steering wheel, chest tight with frustration.

He thought, ‘Sophia, how dare you flirt with another man? You’ll pay for this.

Harley drove into Jelasburg’s most exclusive luxury mall.

Richard glanced at Sophia’s high heels and said, “Wait in the car. I’ll be right back.”

Sophia nodded. Since she would be going hiking with Richard later, she thought it wise to save her energy.

Watching Richard and Harley enter the elevator, Sophia idly opened her phone and saw countless calls from Lucas. She clicked her tongue lightly, ignoring them all.

She remembered how insecure she had felt when they first married. Whenever she couldn’t reach Lucas, she would frantically call and message him. She tried repeatedly, but he never responded.

The situation flipped. Lucas was now the one calling, while she didn’t even care to answer.
