Before long, Richard and Harley returned, and Richard had changed into a casual, comfortable outfit.
It was the first time Sophia had seen him dressed so casually, and she was genuinely surprised.
He wore a simple shirt, a stylish jacket, and a pair of business–style sneakers. His outfit triggered a weird, familiar sensation in Sophia that she couldn’t place.
“Mr. Sterling, have we met somewhere before?” Sophia asked.
She felt certain that if she had seen Richard’s handsome face before, she wouldn’t have forgotten it. Yet, no matter how she tried to recall, nothing came to mind.
Richard got into the car, handed her a few shopping bags, and said calmly, “Take your time.”
Sophia sensed a subtle undertone in Richard’s words. It implied that they had indeed met before, but she had forgotten him.
She was somewhat surprised. She had always been the one forgotten, yet she hadn’t expected that she could forget someone as exceptional as him.
Harley noticed the tension in the back and quickly drove the car out of the underground parking lot.
Sophia felt a bit embarrassed about forgetting she had met Richard before, so she tried to change the subject, rifling through the shopping bags. “What did you get me?”
She opened the bag to find an outdoor outfit matching Richard’s, along with a pair of women’s sneakers in the same style.
Sophia thought, ‘Wait, is this a couple set? No, Richard surely didn’t mean it that way. He just picked out a set suitable for hiking.‘
Trying not to overthink, Sophia said, “Thanks, Mr. Sterling. How much did this cost? I’ll pay you.”
Richard seemed to have anticipated her reaction and said calmly, “Consider this my thank–you for the tie you gave me.”
Feeling he had a point, Sophia let it go. “Actually, I only needed a new pair of shoes.”
She could support herself, and her expenses were modest, mostly spent on Lucas and the Westwood family. Therefore, when Helen asked her to divorce Lucas, she directly demanded 200 million from them.
Unfortunately, she couldn’t get the other 150 million.
Richard looked at the regret in her expression, curious about what she was thinking.
They drove out of the city, heading toward Grace Abbey.
Lucas drove aimlessly through the streets, anxiety gnawing at him. His phone buzzed, and he answered immediately. “Did you find her?”
Kevin said, “Mr. Westwood, we’ve located her. Mrs. Westwood’s phone shows she’s at the Aurora Plaza parking lot.”
Lucas wasn’t far from the Aurora Plaza parking lot, so he immediately drove there. However, the lot was enormous, and he spent ages searching the B1 and B2 levels without seeing the Rolls–Royce Phantom.
