A week flew by in no time.
Travis landed back from Australia, where a private car was already waiting for him at the airport. As soon as he slid into the backseat, he checked his watch. Dinnertime. Perfect.-
He glanced at his assistant. “Chad, call Amanda. Let her know we’re going to Starlight for dinner.”
Chad nodded, every bit the professional. “Yes, sir.” He pulled out his phone and dialed Amanda’s number.
The call rang on and on, a full minute without so much as a hello.
Chad frowned, then turned to Travis. “Sir, Ms. Tully isn’t answering.”
Travis' own brow creased. He was holding a small, elegant jewelry box—the diamond necklace inside was shaped like a sun, shining and beautiful. He’d spotted it at an auction in Australia and immediately thought of Amanda.
Amanda, his little sun.
He knew he’d messed up with the whole engagement fiasco. He owed her an apology, and this necklace was supposed to be a start. But now she wouldn’t even pick up his calls. That ticked him off.
He hated it when Amanda acted out just because she knew he cared. And he really didn’t have the time or patience for her games. His expression was unreadable as he snapped the jewelry box shut.
“Take me home,” he said.
Chad nodded. “Right away, sir.”
The Maybach glided to a stop in front of the villa. Travis stepped out, his face set and cold.
Inside, the villa was unusually quiet. Most of the staff were off somewhere, leaving only Michelle bustling around. Travis shrugged off his coat and called out to her, finding her in the kitchen.
“Where’s Amanda?”
A worried look flickered across Michelle’s face. “Ms. Tully hasn’t come back since that day. I’ve tried calling her over and over, but she won’t answer. Sir, I’m honestly worried… What if she’s done something reckless?”
Michelle was one of the few people in the house who truly cared about Amanda. The canceled engagement had shaken everyone, and Michelle was genuinely scared Amanda might do something drastic.
Travis' brow furrowed, but his reply was steady. “She wouldn’t.”
