“David.” Travis cut him off, voice firm. “I’m getting married. I’ll have a family, kids. I can’t give up my whole life for her.”

Was Travis really that clueless? Did he not see how Leila felt about him, how she clung to him, always making waves in his life?

He’d just always thought it was harmless, something he could overlook. And he did have his own reasons for looking after her.

Leila sobbed harder, looking lost and betrayed. Why was Travis doing this to her? He’d never been this harsh before.

Travis let out a sigh. “I’ll handle all the arrangements. David will go with you, so you won’t be alone. You need to rest. Go lie down.”

He released her and started to walk away.

“Travis, don’t leave me!” Leila’s voice was desperate, echoing down the hallway.

But all she got in return was the sight of his back as he walked away.

David was right about one thing: Leila’s health was fragile, and she couldn’t take this kind of blow. The sight of Travis leaving so coldly was too much. Her eyes rolled back, and she collapsed on the

floor.

David caught her just in time. “Leila! Leila, are you alright?”

He called out to Travis, who was waiting at the elevator. “Travis, she fainted!”

Travis paused for a second.

Then stepped into the elevator and let the doors close behind him.
