After dinner, Amanda headed straight back to her room.

She went into the bathroom, peeled off her silk pajamas, and caught a glimpse of herself in the mirror. The angry red marks all over her skin were impossible to miss. She muttered a curse at Travis. What a jerk.

And to think she’d actually believed he was a gentleman. Turns out, underneath that perfect facade, he was anything but.

She was fuming.

Grabbing her phone, Amanda snapped a clear photo of the marks on her neck. Then she dug deep in her closet and pulled out a black lace lingerie set she’d bought ages ago–back when she’d tried every trick in the book to seduce Travis.

At that time, he never showed an interest in her.

She’d worn that little black number, draped herself across his lap, tried every move she could think of… Any other man would have caved.

But apparently no man could resist a call from his “one and only.” Just as things were heating up, Leila had called and Travis had left her hanging without a second thought.

Amanda rolled her eyes. When she used to put him on a pedestal, her texts would disappear into the void. If he replied to one out of every ten, it felt like winning the lottery.
