Trapped in the boss's embrace (by Katrina A) novel Chapter 25

Chapter 25 Support Her

Damian turned to Beatrice, lowering his gaze as he spoke gently, I heard someone asking about last night. I jumped in to defend you without asking first. I hope I didn’t cause you any trouble.

Holding back her shock, Beatrice replied, I am the one who caused trouble for you, Mr. Crowley.

Do you need me to explain it?

Yes, please.

Beatrice suppressed her heavy breathing.

Since he was here, it would be foolish of her to refuse him.

All the ladies present were instantly smitten with Damian. Besides his handsome appearance, he was also the epitome of a gentleman, exuding elegance and grace. The way he dropped his eyes and spoke in a soft, low voice was utterly captivating.

Damian turned to the crowd and said, I saved Ms. Lawson last night.

I was at the hotel for a business meeting, and as I was leaving, I ran into Ms. Lawson unconscious in the hallway. The guy with her seemed shady, so I asked the hotel management to look into it. I went with the staff to check it out, and luckily, we got there just in time. She’s safe and unharmed.

He recounted the event in detail, deliberately leaving out any ambiguous parts that could cause misunderstandings. By doing so, he cleared her name and prevented anyone with bad intentions from spreading false rumors.

Beatrice was struck by Damian’s thoughtfulness. But how did someone so careful end up wandering aroundand getting tangled in her problems?

Could it be that her extremely miserable experience aroused his sympathy for her?

Lost in thought, she stared up at him intently. The scene caught Desmond’s attention.

He clenched his fists.

The Belmont family and the Fairfax family remained silent. Madeline wanted to argue, but her mouth was covered by Aria.

The guests nodded their heads repeatedly, expressing their complete belief.

Damian’s presence alone was enough to vouch for Beatrice. His word was as good as fact.

Even if undeniable evidence surfaced showing that Beatrice had been assaulted by eight men, everyone would pretend not to know and stay silent. No one dared to challenge Damian.

Thank you for saving my wife!

Desmond walked over and put his arm around Beatrice’s shoulders, as if asserting his identity as her husband.

Before Damian could utter a word, she pushed his arm away with an icy expression. Mr. Belmont, you have no right to express gratitude to him on my behalf! Moreover, I am serious about the divorce. You’ve already signed the divorce agreement, and it won’t be long before we finalize the divorce!

Desmond’s brain and heart seemed to be detonated by a bomb. He said in a panicked and choked voice, Do you really want to divorce me?

He didn’t believe it.

Given her deep affection for him, he assumed that she would never break up with him and that she was just venting her anger.

Beatrice’s eyes were firm and cold.

She checked the time and said, The police will be here soon. Instead of worrying about the divorce, you should pay attention to your sweetheart and mother first. Of course, you can’t run away, either. Your sweetheart told me last night that you were involved in this

matter.

Desmond’s eyes were bloodshot with rage. You think I would do that to you? I will never ever hurt you!

Beatrice stared at him speechlessly and then suddenly smiled,

You’ll never hurt me? How dare you say it?

Do you think I just found out about your affair with Madeline? I’ve been aware of it for a long time. And I know about every date you took, every hotel you checked into, and every vacation you took together….

Do you know what it’s like to feel a knife piercing your heart, yet you can’t die? You’re just left to suffer, day in and day out, like you’re being tortured in hell! But tell me, what did I do wrong? How have I let you down?

Her voice was gentle and slow, but every word was heartwrenching.

Desmond was out of breath.

Each word Beatrice uttered was like a needle pricking his heart. He was filled with regret. He had just been muddledheaded. He didn’t want a divorce. He simply couldn’t live without her!

Damian had turned around while they were talking.

He deliberately positioned himself to block Beatrice, ensuring that while others could hear her voice, they were unable to see her facial expressions.

Meanwhile, a group of uniformed policemen came in from outside.

After walking up to the Belmont family and the Fairfax family, they pulled out an arrest warrant and took Madeline, Autumn,

Madeline cried and howled desperately, but the Fairfax family could do nothing.

There were witnesses and physical evidence.

Damian even showed up to support Beatrice.

The Belmont family and the Fairfax family had no choice but to contact their lawyers immediately.

A dramatic and thrilling farce finally came to an end.

The protagonists were exhausted, but the audience enjoyed themselves.

Over the following week, the entire upperclass social circles in Cloudia would be abuzz with the thrilling events that unfolded tonight. Those who hadn’t managed to be present would rue the fact that they’d missed such a spectacular farce.

Soon, people began leaving the hall one by one..

Beatrice waited intentionally, only stepping out after Damian and Killian had left.

Rather than calling a taxi home, she stumbled into the park behind the hotel, collapsing beneath an old tree.

The weak glow of the streetlamp cast shadows across her red dress, making her look like a vengeful spirit who had finally

claimed her revenge.

She had already thoroughly investigated and identified both the mastermind and the accomplice.

Though her investigation revealed Desmond’s innocence, and that Autumn had only helped Madeline lure her to the hotel, she’d kept these details from the police.

Let them all be dragged in for questioning together. Her lips curled into a bitter smile. After everything, Desmond deserved every second of humiliation coming his way.

Footsteps were approaching.

As he approached, a subtle cologne with notes of sandalwood drifted toward Beatrice, expensive and masculine.

She looked up feebly.

The misty moonlight filtered cast an ethereal glow on his face. The shadows played across his chiseled profile, while his downcast eyes revealed nothing of his thoughts. His tall figure, silhouetted against the night, loomed over her with an intimidating presence.

The question burned in her throatWhy are you following me?-but she swallowed it down.
