He was dressed casually todaya light blue shirt, black pants, and polished shoes. No tie, but his cufflinks caught the light. Through the car window, the blue glow softened his features, giving him an otherworldly elegance.

Something about him reminded her of those rare iceblue flowers that grew on mountain peaksbeautiful, but untouchable.

Good morning.

Beatrice greeted him, tugging nervously at her windbreaker.

Despite the spacious backseat of the luxury car offering plenty of room to avoid contact, she couldn’t shake the urge to press herself against the door. Every inch of distance between them felt like a shield she desperately needed.

Damian nodded slightly at her with the impassive air of a courtly king responding to his enthusiastic people.

Beatrice pressed her lips.

She realized that his gentleness and humility were merely masks he wore and that his true essence was coldness and arrogance. However, given that he was born with a silver spoon in his

mouth, a bit of arrogance was to be expected. All in all, his moral character was still decent.

Oh, yes, it is indeed far.Beatrice nodded in agreement.

For someone who grew up jetsetting around private schools, she thought, you sure act like you’ve never left your backyard.

Was this trip planned long ago, or was it a spurofthemoment decision?Damian asked casually, his tone even more amicable.

Beatrice replied, It’s planned a long time ago

Halfway through, she abruptly halted. It dawned on her that she had asked Damian for a job not long ago. Yet, she had long planned to travel

She was mortified, desperately wishing he would forget it.

However, the friendliness on his face, which vanished as quickly as mist, made it crystal clear to her that he remembered it!

No! He had set a trap for her!

Just when the tension couldn’t get any worse, Killian turned from the front seat with a smirk. So I take it you’re not hunting for a new job anymore, Ms. Lawson?

Beatrice was dumbfounded.

Helpless, she explained in a low voice with embarrassment and a little grievance, If I had succeeded in getting the job, I would have canceled my travel plans. But Mr. Crowley turned me down.

Chapter 27 She Got a job

This had been her initial plan. Undoubtedly, traveling to unwind. was essential. However, had she been employed as the chief secretary, she would definitely have made adjustments to her travel arrangements.

What if I change my mind?

Damian’s tone was calm, and his expression was serious.

Beatrice was taken aback. WaitDo you mean I am hired?

Now?

When she was heading to the airport?

Instead of answering her question, Damian gave her a playful smile. Aren’t you going for a trip?

But her journey hadn’t started yet!!

The travel can be canceled. I am ready to start work at any time.Beatrice immediately sat up straighter, knowing that if she let this chance slip through her fingers, she’d be nothing but an idiot.

Any time?

Yeah!she said firmly. Also, I think Isaedia is too far away.

Damian’s smile became wider.

He cast a glance at Killian, who had been intently listening to

their conversation all along. Then, Killian immediately exclaimed, Ms. Lawson, it’s wonderful that you’re available to start work as

early as today. Once we board the plane, I’ll fill you in on the detailed schedule for this business trip.

Beatrice was stunned.

She’d somehow landed a job by bumming a ridetalk about a crazy twist of fate.

But hey, she was nothing if not adaptable. Well, since we’ve got time before we hit the airport, she said, pulling herself together, maybe you could walk me through the schedule?

Killian laughed, There’s no hurry.

Beatrice nodded.

As she spoke, her muted phone received a flurry of incoming calls, one after another. She picked up the phone, only to find that Violet had also attempted to reach her.

She turned sideways and called back. Violet.

Desmond has found your flight information and is rushing to the airport,Violet shouted anxiously from the other end.

Beatrice was shocked.

This bastard is crazy now. Beatie, why don’t you go back and find a place to hide now?

Well, let me think about it.Beatrice held her forehead.

After hanging up, she looked out the window. Her spirits seemed to have been dragged back into a realm of dampness and cold, much like the frigid autumn rain in late fall, filled with melancholy and a sense of helplessness.

The car was quiet, so everyone else could hear the conversation between Beatrice and Violet.

Damian remained silent.

Gordon couldn’t help but comfort Beatrice. Don’t be afraid. Mr. Crowley has a private plane. That guy can’t find you or track you down.

She suddenly cheered up. That’s great.
