Damian’s cold and indifferent voice came from across the aisle.

Beatrice came back to her senses.

She glanced over, only to meet Damian’s intense gaze. Heat rushed to her cheeks instantly. Those piercing dark eyes seemed to see right through her, making her heart race in embarrassment.

Sorry. Won’t happen again. She ducked her head, cheeks burning.

Better not,Damian said, his voice icecold as he looked away.

Beatrice wanted to sink into her seat and disappear. Talk about mortifying.

Across from her, even Killian looked uncomfortable, shooting confused glances between them. What was Damian’s deal anyway? So she’d zoned out for a secondit wasn’t like she’d committed some horrible crime.

After all, she had just experienced a major change in her life. How could she remain impassive?

After a while, the flight attendant came in, took away the breakfast, and brought coffee.

Damian only rested for ten minutes before starting a video conference.

For the next five hours of the flight, he was either in meetings, on the phone, or reviewing documents.

Killian had to report to Damian any urgent matters that were sent to his mailbox and required his personal decision at any time. Then, a new round of phone calls and video conferences began

They were as busy as in the company.

When Killian was free, Beatrice quietly called him to the back of the plane and asked him to tell her in detail about the work arrangements for this business trip.

She had to familiarize herself with it as soon as possible so that she could keep up with Damian’s work pace.

Killian sent her the work arrangements for the next few days.

The destination of this business trip was Shauzhark.

The main purpose was to inspect the subsidiary company. They would also meet with government officials and important business partners there.

This is the first stop. We will inspect subsidiary companies around the world one by one in the next six months,Killian whispered.

Beatrice didn’t quite understand why Damian, her boss, chose it as the first stop.

Killian paused. Well, it’s nothing special. It’s relatively close.

Beatrice was speechless.

What a cold jest!

A man owning Gulfstream G650 could fly anywhere except the moon! Why would he care about being close?

Killian ran through their schedule, then let out a tired sigh. Back at the subsidiary, things were way simpler. But here at headquarters? It’s insane. Some days I wish I could split myself in two just to get everything done.

He rubbed his neck. Damian’s super particular about everything— even Gordon pulls double duty as his secretary. Having you on board is gonna be a lifesaver for both of us.

Beatrice smiled, revealing a shallow dimple on her lips.

Killian was close to her and was captivated by her beauty. Now he understood what they meant by lovely in any style-she was ethereal without makeup, bewitching with it. She could transform from an angel to a temptress effortlessly.

Killian, get some chips from Mia.

Beatrice froze at Damian’s cool voice behind them. She glanced back to see him lounging in his seat, one hand holding a

Killian blinked at his boss. Chips? Since when do you-

Well,Damian drawled, setting his papers aside and leaning back, you two seem to be having such a cozy little chat. Thought some snacks might make you even morecomfortable.

Killian and Beatrice were embarrassed.

Damian was very subtle in his scolding.

At two o’clock in the afternoon, the plane landed at Solace Airport.

Upon disembarking from the plane, Beatrice was immediately confronted by a searing heat wave that felt as though it had catapulted her from the mild embrace of spring into the sweltering grip of midsummer.

Then, it abruptly occurred to her that her suitcase was filled with nothing but sweaters and down jackets. Little did she know that her destination would shift so dramatically, from a place near the Arctic Circle to the equator

The car to pick them up was waiting on the ground.

Killian sat in the front passenger seat, while Beatrice continued to sit in the back with Damian.

They arrived at the Crest Hotel, their accommodation for the duration of their visit.

After they checked in, Beatrice and Killian accompanied Damian to his suite.

Any plans for tonight?

Damian sal on the sofa and cast a glance at Beatrice.

She replied calmly, There is but one event on the schedule for this evening. Mr. Murphy from Quantum Tech invited you to a cocktail party on his yacht. Something about welcoming you to town.

Damian nodded.

Then, he said, I’m going to take a nap. Wake me up at five o’clock.

Okay.

Beatrice and Killian exited Damian’s suite and made their way back to their respective rooms. Although they were also staying in suites, theirs were of a smaller size.

Without opening her suitcase, she hurried out of the hotel and hailed a taxi to the nearest shopping mall.

She needed professional, casual, and formal attire to meet the dressing requirements of different occasions.

Beatrice returned to the hotel around half past four, took a quick shower, and changed into a professional suit.

At 850, she tiptoed into Damian’s suite, pulled out the suits from his suitcase, and hung them up.

Then, she picked out a suit for him to wear tonight and ironed it.

At five o’clock, as soon as the alarm went off, Beatrice went to the bedroom to wake up Damian.

She walked gracefully into the bedroom, but the moment her eyes landed on the bed, she stumbled in her heels.

There, sprawled across the kingsized bed, was her boss. Ilis silver silk robe had fallen open at the chest, revealing hist collarbone and toned muscles. His long, sculpted legs looked like they belonged in a magazine. The whole scene was like something straight out of a romance novel.
