Chapter 29 The Kiss
Before Beatrice could get up, a big hand pressed down on the back of her head.
Her lips abruptly touched his jawline….
Her eyes widened in astonishment.
The smoothness of Damian’s skin, the alluring richness of his hormonal scent, and the warm, fragrant, and luxurious feel of his body were all conveyed to her brain with startling vividness.
He froze.
He loosened his grip and tilted his head back. Then, he put his large hand back on the back of Beatrice’s head and pushed her head back.
Their eyes met.
One was stunned, while the other was impassive.
After a long while, Beatrice finally snapped out of her daze. Swiftly, she yanked his hand down and rose to her feet. With a flurry of movements, she used her hands to tidy her hair, taking deep breaths in an attempt to steady herself. “It’s half past five already. You really need to get out of bed now.”
With that, she immediately rushed out.
Damian was speechless.
After a moment of silence, he pressed the back of his hand against his
eyes.

Beatrice returned to her room without stopping.
She went to the bathroom to wash her face, and the face in the mirror blushed scarlet.
She was merely carrying out her boss‘ order to rouse him. How on earth did things end up with her kissing him?
It was quite weird!
At six o’clock in the afternoon, Beatrice mustered her courage and went to Damian’s room again.
Killian was there, too.
They stood together in the living room, waiting for Damian.
At the same time, Beatrice gazed at Killian, who was standing beside her. She thought that, having been by Damian’s side for such a long time, he surely must have carried out the task she had just done.
She couldn’t help but wonder whether he had ever had a similar experience, and then quickly suspected that he might have.

3/10 An image of Killian lunging at Damian and being compelled to plant a kiss on his face involuntarily flashed across her mind…
Beatrice was dumbfounded, exclaiming inwardly. Oh my God!
“Ms. Lawson, why are you staring at me like that?” Killian couldn’t help but touch his face when her eyes betrayed her confusion, conflict, and distress.
“It’s nothing. It’s nothing. I just…” Beatrice placed her hand on her chest. “I think our job is challenging.”
“Work is never easy. Just adapt to it.”
“You are quite optimistic.”
“What else can I do? I can’t exactly fly off the handle at Mr. Crowley.”
Beatrice pressed her lips.
She had mixed feelings.
Killian was right, but she just couldn’t agree with him.
Damian had been standing in the dressing room for a minute.
He witnessed the series of expressions Beatrice had shown when she gazed at Killian and listened to her saying that their job was challenging.
Damian lowered his head and let out an angry chuckle.
1le walked out.
“Mr. Crowley.”
Killian turned around, and Beatrice followed suit.
Her eyes met Damian’s for a second. Then, she looked away and fixed her eyes on the buttons of his shirt, appearing very respectful.
Damian stepped out.
Beatrice and Killian followed behind him.
The car pulled away from the hotel, heading toward Azure Marina in
thick silence.
Beatrice sat ramrod straight in the backseat, every muscle tense. She tried to relax, but her mind kept drifting back to that kiss.
God, that kiss. Her cheeks flushed at the memory she couldn’t shake. Good heavens! Can I erase my memory?
“Ms. Lawson.”
A low, drawling voice rang out from the side.
Beatrice immediately replied, “What? Mr. Crowley, what can I do for you?”

“Get a bottle of water.”

“Okay.” Beatrice took a bottle of water from the small refrigerator in the car, unscrewed it, and handed it over.
Damian slid the water in her direction. “Come on, take your time and sip it gently. Loosen up a bit and stop dwelling on the work blunder.”
The lights outside the car were on. Her pretty face blushed.
Beatrice straightened her body and gulped down a large mouthful of mineral water, as if she were chugging whiskey.
Killian was completely confused.
Blunder? Did Beatrice make a blunder?
When?
Why was he unaware of it?

The car pulled over at the marina.
The driver stayed in the car while Beatrice and Killian followed Damian onto the yacht.
The magnificent three–story yacht gleamed pristine white in the
moon.

the second featured an entertainment area complete with a sprawling pool. Guest suites occupied the third floor, and at the very top, a private deck offered breathtaking views, furnished with plush circular sofas.
Nathan Murphy, the president of Quantum Tech, rushed to greet them.
His weathered face crinkled into an overeager smile as he grabbed Damian’s arm.
There was something unsettling about his enthusiasm.
On the first floor, there were about a dozen people mingled –all local socialites and wealthy elites. Among them stood a petite girl with sun–kissed skin, whose infectious smile lit up her beautiful face.
“This is my granddaughter, Lila Murphy. She is 21 years old. She just came back from studying art in Astraca and graduated from the same school as you, Mr. Crowley,” Nathan said proudly.
Instead of going in with Damian, Beatrice and Killian waited on the deck. However, they were able to peer inside through the expansive floor–to–ceiling windows.
Seeing this scene, they exchanged glances silently. Their boss just got a date.
Damian greeted Lila very gentlemanly.

She stared at him intently with admiration. She was petite, less than 5.2 feet tall. Her heart raced with excitement when the 6.2–foot–tall, robust, and handsome Damian was right in front of her.
