Trapped in the boss's embrace (by Katrina A) novel Chapter 42

Chapter 42 Divorce Spectator

Beatrice’s words were sarcastic, with no hint of affection.

Desmond was hurt by her cold, indifferent attitude.

But he didn’t get angry. He got down on one knee by the side of her bed.

Honey, I’m so sorry. It’s all my fault. Please give me another chance. I swear I’ll never mess up again.

He spoke with such sincerity that tears almost welled up in his eyes.

But Beatrice was completely unmoved as if she were a being devoid of emotions.

You don’t need to change. You were just being true to your desires. You’ve been having such a great time dating over the past six months. Keep enjoying yourself. I’ll let you go.

Desmond felt his heart shatter. He forcefully took her hand and kissed it passionately.

I’m so sorry. I messed up and deserve whatever is coming. It’s not like you think. I never wanted to be with Madeline. You’re the only one I love

Stop.Beatrice yanked her hand back. She had a mouthful of

angry words, but she didn’t even want to say them. Desmond, nonet of it matters anymore. We’re over. I want a divorce!

You can’t just decide that on your own! I’ve already torn up the agreement!Desmond’s eyes turned bloodshot. He was on the brink of losing control.

Beatrice looked at him and paused for a few seconds. Fine, then let’s see you in court!

Can you just throw away all these years we’ve been together? Please forgive me, just this once. I beg you!Desmond’s voice wavered as he tried to hug her. I can’t live without you.

Get your hands off me! Don’t touch me!Beatrice threw a pillow at him.

Just then, Damian sat up, and the blanket slipped off his shoulders.

He rubbed his temple and said, Killian, get me some water.

Killian, who had been pretending to sleep, jumped up immediately and fetched a bottle of water from the fridge.

They had been forced to witness this tragic drama first thing in the morning.

Beatrice and Desmond stopped their quarrel.

Beatrice’s eyes widened in disbelief.

God, please tell me that isn’t Damian! Not him!

Desmond looked slightly annoyed, but he couldn’t continue in front of others.

He got up and said in a gentle tone, Honey, you must be hungry. I’ve had someone buy your favorite chicken soup. I’ll go get it.

He switched gears so quickly, from begging for forgiveness to acting as if nothing had happened.

Yet, Beatrice just ignored him.

As soon as Desmond left, Beatrice noticed Damian lounging sideways on the sofa.

She blushed with embarrassment.

Damian was like her loyal divorce spectator, never missing a single scene.

He took a sip of water, then got up and left without even glancing at the hospital bed.

Killian followed him out immediately.

Beatrice’s eyes couldn’t help but follow Damian’s tall figure as he

moved. She wondered what was on his mind.

Here,a cold voice interrupted her thoughts.

Beatrice’s view was blocked.

It was Desmond. He came back.

He stood by the bed, holding a bowl of soup with a stern expression.

Beatrice paused for a moment and said, Just put it on the table. I’ll cal later.

It’ll get cold if you wait. Let me help you.

I don’t need you.

Do you want Damian?

Beatrice looked at him as if he were insane. Don’t assume everyone is as bad as you.

Desmond’s face softened a bit when she denied it. If you quit your job, I’ll believe you and him have nothing going on.

Beatrice was speechless again. Then don’t believe me.

She didn’t need his trust!

Desmond’s face darkened. Do you want to work for him as his secretary?

Yes, that’s right.”

Beatrice, you are trying to get close to Damian just to spite me

Desmond seemed to see right through her.

He knew she still loved him, and Damian was just a way to make him jealous.

But even so, Damian was a dangerous presence. Desmond couldn’t be sure she wouldn’t start liking Damian over time.

Beatrice let out a cold laugh and didn’t want to argue. She sat up and took the soup from his hand. Mr. Belmont, thank you for visiting. You can leave now.

Desmond gave a bitter smile.

This was the first time she had addressed him so formally.

He sat down by the bed. I’m not leaving. We’re not divorced yet. You’re still my wife.

Beatrice wanted to strangle him!

She couldn’t get rid of him, and she couldn’t hit him, so she just ignored him.

She wanted to put the soup on the bedside table, but she was afraid he would forcefeed her

She knew him. He would definitely do that.

Rolling her eyes, she yanked the bowl back and dug in.

An hour later, Damian came back, along with Killian and Harper.

Beatrice didn’t know Harper had stayed with her all night. She had just gone out to buy breakfast.

Of course, Harper wasn’t there out of concern for Beatrice, nort out of guilt. She was there to keep an eye on Damian.

Ms. Lawson, I owe you an apology,Harper said earnestly. I didn’t get the full story and believed Mr. Harrington’s lies. I was completely wrong about you. Please forgive me.

Two apologies in one morning

Beatrice didn’t know whether to laugh or shake her head.
