Chapter 75 Damian’s Apology

1/9

Damian remained motionless, his deep, captivating eyes fixed on

her.

Beatrice didn’t want to look him in the eye. As soon as their gazes met, she quickly looked away.

He kept staring at her face while she focused on his collarbone.

Time passed, and the room felt eerily quiet.

She waited for him to make a move, but he still hadn’t taken off

his clothes.

Frustration began to bubble up inside her. Beatrice wondered if Damian was expecting her to help him take off his robes.

Unable to hold it in anymore, she glanced up, wanting to speak but not knowing how to start.

After a moment of hesitation, she blurted out, I’ll help you take

it off!

It’s just some clothes and medicine.

No need to drag it out. Might as well just get it done!

Without waiting for him to respond, she moved closer, leaning forward to reach for his chest.

A soft, fresh scent brushed against Damian’s face as her delicate fingers pressed against his chest.

It was like time itself paused.

Her heart raced, and Beatrice felt a flutter in her chest that she couldn’t control.

Her mind went blank, and her hands froze.

She’d intended to start with the robe’s open collar, but as soon as her fingers touched his warm, solid chest and she saw the shape of his muscles beneath the silk, she was momentarily thrown off.

Ms. Lawsonwhat exactly do you think you’re doing?

His voice was low, confused, with a hint of suspicion, sending a warm breath across her face that made her skin tingle.

Beatrice quickly pulled her hand away. I’ll just change. positions.

Damian raised an eyebrow, amused. Change positions?

Beatrice’s face turned scarlet. It’s not what you think! I just want to take your clothes off!

The moment the words left her mouth, she realized how terrible.

it sounded.

Damian chuckled softly, Keep your voice down. No need to get so worked up.

Her face burned even more, and his casual expression made her feel even more awkward.

She took a deep breath, trying to explain but quickly realizing that would only make things worse. So, she decided to stay silent and move behind him instead.

When she said she would change positions, she meant she was going to move behind him.

For a few seconds, she silently struggled with her thoughts but forced herself to focus.

It’s just changing his bandages.

Nothing else!

Ms. Lawson, why are you behind me? You’re not planning to murder me, are you?Damian teased.

Beatrice let out a nervous laugh and moved without hesitation.

Reaching for his neck, she carefully slipped her hand into the collar of his robe. Though she tried to avoid touching his skin, her fingers still brushed against his neck, collarbone, shoulder, and arm.

The robe slipped off his torso, revealing his flawless skin to her

eyes.

His broad shoulders, narrow waist, and the Vshape of his muscles made for an incredible sight. The sculpted lines of his body radiated strength, and just looking at him, she could feel the power in his frame.

It was almost like a work of art, a visual feast for Beatrice.

Maybe because she was behind him now and no longer had to worry about being seen, she felt a bit more relaxed, even allowing herself a moment to appreciate his physique.

But she quickly snapped herself back to the task at hand. There was no time to be distracted.

Kneeling on the bed, she leaned forward to undo the bandage wrapped around his waist.

She carefully applied the ointment with a cotton swab, the paste thick and sticky. Instinctively, she blew on it to help it dry faster.

Damian’s back tensed, his muscles tightening under her touch.

Once the ointment had dried, she took a fresh bandage and wrapped it around his waist, her hands moving steadily, methodically, as she worked.

Alright, stop.Damian’s voice was unexpectedly rough.

His arms and neck were tense, his veins standing out.

Beatrice froze, still holding the unfinished bandage. It’ll be

Damian’s face darkened, and his expression became complicated.

He didn’t answer; he just pushed her hands away. Get down. I’ll take care of the rest.

His voice was icy, and his breath was a little heavier than usual.

Beatrice stood there, a mix of confusion and frustration bubbling up inside.

She’d been careful, so why was he suddenly so unhappy?

What’s his deal? Is it always this difficult to please him?

Being his secretary is exhausting!

Damian seemed to realize he’d snapped, and his tone softened slightly. Go to the kitchen and make something to eat.

Beatrice was tempted to quit her job, but the words stuck in her throat.

She sighed and got off the bed, but as soon as her feet hit the floor, she stumbled, her legs numb from kneeling too long, and ended up collapsing to the floor.

Damian was startled.

He looked down at her, kneeling with her hands on the bed,

She forced down her annoyance, turned on her heel, and headed. to the

Damian sat down and stared at the sandwich for a long moment. Finally, he said, Not bad. You’ve got some skill.

Beatrice gave a polite smile. Glad you like it, Mr. Crowley.

But inside, she couldn’t help but roll her eyes.

Is he mocking me?

Whatever.

I don’t care anymore.

Damian looked at the sandwich, then casually said, I can’t finish this. Want half?

Beatrice shot him a quick look and replied, I’m not hungry.

No chance I’m sharing a sandwich with you!

She had come to check on him with good intentions, but instead, he mocked her for being vain.

She’d helped him change his bandages, and he’d complained that she was being too rough.

Now she made him a simple sandwich, and he was still finding ways to insult her.
