For an entire week, Nora hadn’t been able to reach Una.
Her only option was to ask Monica.
After everything that had happened, Monica had grown more rational, and she looked after Una in her own way.
“She’s doing fine,” Monica mumbled, her words muffled around a mouthful of food. “My dad hired the best nurse for her, and she’s got a whole schedule of rehab appointments.”
In Monica’s eyes, her father could do no wrong.
But Nora couldn’t shake her unease.
The Cooper family had never been kind to Una.
“Oh, right—my dad’s even setting Una up on a blind date.”
“A blind date?” Nora’s brows knit together. “Where?”
“I’ll check.”
Monica texted back quickly. The date was set for that very afternoon.
Nora packed up early and headed to the café where Una’s blind date was supposed to take place.
She didn’t approach them directly; instead, she chose a quiet table in the corner, listening to their conversation from afar.
Una seemed a little uncomfortable with the whole setup, but she was perfectly polite, chatting with the man across from her. The atmosphere was civil enough—until the man casually mentioned he hoped Una would give him a son.
His family had only one male heir each generation, and it was up to him to carry on the name.
Una asked calmly, “And what if I can’t have a son?”
Without missing a beat, the man replied, “Then we’ll keep trying. If it still doesn’t happen, I’ll find someone else who can, and you’ll raise the child.”
That was all Una needed to hear. She stood up, ready to leave.
The man, his pride wounded, raised his voice, “If it weren’t for Mr. Cooper’s word, do you really think I’d consider someone like you—a girl with no family?”
Una turned, her expression icy. “Then it’s good you don’t.”
He sneered, “No wonder nobody wants you.”
Suddenly, Monica stormed over, flinging a glass of water straight into his face. “You’re delusional if you think you’re God’s gift. Get lost.”
The man’s face twisted in anger.
Monica glared at him. “How did you even get matched with someone like this?”
