Trash Husband, I'm the Top novel Chapter 381

Daniel carried Nora back to the bed.

She still didn’t resist.

He kissed her softly at the corner of her mouth, but she remained expressionless.

A surge of panic rose in Daniel’s chest.

He couldn’t help but pull Nora tighter into his arms, his lips brushing against her ear as he whispered her name over and over.

“Aurora, look at me.”

“Aurora, please, don’t scare me like this.”

Nora was silent, her gaze fixed somewhere in the distance, empty and untroubled, as if nothing could reach her.

Daniel gently touched her cheek, then took her hand—her fingers were icy cold.

He pulled out his phone and called Will, voice tight as he gave instructions. “Get a doctor over here.”

Will sounded confused. “What kind of doctor?”

“A… psychologist. No, tell him to wait for us. We’re coming to the hospital.”

Daniel wrapped Nora in his coat and hurried downstairs.

A housekeeper appeared just in time to see him rushing past; beneath the coat, Mrs. Carter’s face looked shockingly pale, her eyes dull and lifeless, as if she’d been struck by some terrible illness.

Daniel sped to the hospital. Will was already waiting.

“Dr. Lawson’s here.”

Daniel carried Nora upstairs.

When Dr. Lawson saw Nora’s state, his expression grew grave.

“Has she suffered a serious trauma?”

The look on her face could only be described as utterly devastated.

Daniel pressed his lips together, every muscle in his body tense.

Will quietly explained what had happened over the past few days.

Dr. Lawson nodded, understanding. “She’s pregnant, so medication isn’t ideal. The best way is to help her work through it with support, and that support should come from someone she’s close to and trusts deeply.”

Daniel felt a sharp ache in his heart. Someone she trusts.

That certainly wasn’t him.

Nora resented him—his presence was probably the last thing she wanted.

“Una died,” Daniel said quietly, grief thick in his voice. “Aurora’s heartbroken. She can’t find her way out.”

“Una died?” Louis was stunned. “How?”

Daniel just shook his head, unable to speak.

Louis knelt by the bed and called Nora’s name softly. She didn’t react—her whole being radiated numbness and despair.

“I’m taking her with me,” Louis said without hesitation, trying to help Nora up.

Daniel blocked him, his expression stormy.

He didn’t want to hand Nora over to Louis.

“Daniel?” Louis frowned. “Look at Aurora. She won’t get better if she stays here. Unless you have a better idea?”

“Let her stay one more night,” Daniel said, his voice raw. “Tomorrow morning, I’ll bring her to you myself.”

The pain was like a slow, twisting knife, but he had no choice.

He couldn’t just watch Nora wither away.

After a brief hesitation, Louis agreed.

He took Payne with him as he left.
