Drusilla yawned deeply, "I'm so wiped out today, think I'll catch some sleep."
The idea of getting into a spat with Lilith over nothing was the last thing on her mind. After all, it was pointless.
The stress of looking after two kids all day had left Drusilla feeling like her nerves were stretched to their limit.
...
Blythe had already arranged for the kids to rest, making sure their room was ready ahead of time. She even had gifts placed in there for them, all prepared in advance.
Leading Colton and Cormac to their room, Blythe asked, "Colton, Cormac, do you like it?"
Back at home, the two boys shared a bed, but here they each had their own bed, and everything was in pairs. The boys had never seen such a room before; it was like something out of a fairy tale.
Cormac glanced at Blythe and said, "Thank you, Grandma."
Knowing Drusilla was around made the boys less eager to head home. They were looking forward to spending some time here.
Meanwhile, Drusilla rang up Verena, who sounded as if she was in the middle of chaos as usual. It was easy to imagine how hectic things were on her end.
Standing in the hallway, Drusilla asked, "You're still at work?"
Verena replied, "Yeah. My boss is still here, driving me nuts. How are Colton and Cormac doing?"
"They've gone to bed." Drusilla had hoped that Verena would come over so they could take the kids home together. But Verena was stuck at work for the time being.
Not wanting to pressure her further, Drusilla said, "Just focus on what you need to do, and call me when you're done."
Verena said, "Okay, sorry Drusilla, it's my fault for being caught up."
"It's fine, just get back to it." Drusilla couldn't really blame her for being busy with her own stuff.
After hanging up, Drusilla walked into Enoch's room. He was in his pajamas, sitting at his desk. When he saw Drusilla enter, he looked up. "I thought you had left."
Drusilla walked over, assisting him from his chair to his wheelchair, and then to the edge of the bed. She helped him lie down and adjusted his pillows for him.
Lying there, Enoch glanced at Drusilla, who sat beside him. He suddenly smiled.
This naive woman was so easy to fool!
All it took was sharing a fireworks show with her, and now... she was neglecting her kids to stay with him!
She must be feeling touched, right?
Even though she was a mother of two, in moments like this, she seemed just like a little girl who had just grown up.
Enoch asked, "Did you enjoy the fireworks tonight?"
At that moment, Drusilla was really pondering how to tell Enoch she wanted to stay a bit longer.
