Twins - The Unforeseen Legacy of My Ex's Uncle-in-Law novel Chapter 178

When would Verena finish her work was a mystery, and so was the moment for Drusilla’s departure. All she could do was hang out with Enoch, killing time.

It was only when he mentioned the fireworks that she remembered the romantic gesture he had made earlier...

She nodded. "Yeah, but kind of a bummer about the pollution."

Enoch replied, "Not at all, these are eco-friendly fireworks. That's the perk."

"Really? That's a thing now?"

"Yeah, our company is hosting a carnival early next month. We're planning to use them. I thought I'd give them a trial run today."

Drusilla looked at Enoch, initially thinking it was all for her. Hearing his words, she couldn't help but roll her eyes. "So, this was just a test, huh?"

And here she was, fooled into thinking it was all specially for her!

She felt a wave of unnecessary emotion wash over her.

Seeing her look of betrayal, Enoch tried to hide a smirk, "You women really do sweat the small stuff. You enjoyed the fireworks, didn't you? And now you're hung up on whether they were for you."

"We women just don't like being played, that's all."

Enoch gazed into her clear eyes. "Proves you were moved, doesn't it?"

"Not really," Drusilla averted her eyes, refusing to admit any emotion.

Enoch nudged further, "Then why suddenly decide to stay tonight?"

He wasn't dumb; he was a man, and her staying hinted at something quite clear to him.

Hearing his words, she retorted, "Don't flatter yourself. I'm leaving now."

As she stood to leave, she felt a tug on her right hand and saw it was him, holding her wrist.

With a gentle pull, Enoch brought her into his embrace, his arms wrapping around her.

The strength of a man's body, compared to a woman's, was undeniable.
