Lilith said, "It's good that you've considered it."
She also believed that their genuine intentions would touch Verena's heart.
Lilith added, "Well, I won't keep you any longer! You're off to work, right? I'm headed to the office myself. Need a ride?"
"No, thanks," Verena replied. "I'll make my own way."
So, Lilith had to leave.
...
When Drusilla got up in the morning, after dropping her two kids off at daycare, the teacher greeted her, "Ms. Lawson, I'm really sorry about last night."
"It's not your fault." The incident was Harlan's doing. Now that Harlan had gained some influence, he enjoyed wielding his power, thinking too highly of himself.
The daycare teacher was just a regular employee, and Drusilla wasn't unreasonable enough to take it out on her.
The teacher said, "This morning, we got a call from Celestial-Sounds Ltd. They've asked for Colton and Cormac to be in the show; it seems there was a mix-up before. I'm sorry the boys had to go through that. They're such wonderful kids!"
Drusilla glanced at Cormac, who had been upset all of last night.
"Cormac, did you hear that?"
Cormac looked at the teacher incredulously, "We can be in the show now?"
The teacher nodded, "Of course, Cormac, you're amazing. Of course, you can."
"Oh."
Colton stood aside, indifferent. He wasn't very interested in the matter.
After hanging up, Drusilla could only imagine how furious Harlan was, especially someone like him who enjoyed using his position to oppress others. Being outplayed must have irked him greatly.
Right after the call, Drusilla saw that Verena had sent her photos of the gifts from Lilith and Harlan, asking, "Do you want me to bring them over, or will you pick them up? Harlan was quite generous; these toys don't look cheap."
He probably never expected his carefully chosen gifts would end up with the two kids he despised the most.
Looking at the photos, Drusilla found it ironic. "Give them away to someone else. I don't want them."
Anything from Harlan would just feel tainted. The kids wouldn't like it either.
Verena suggested, "Let's just hold onto them for a bit, then give them away. I'm really looking forward to seeing Harlan's face when he finds out the truth. Drusilla, have you really not considered giving the kids back to the Taylor family? You're living with the Taylors now, anyway. Why keep running back and forth every day? Why not just come clean?"
Drusilla asked Verena, "Do you know what Enoch is up to?"
