Twins - The Unforeseen Legacy of My Ex's Uncle-in-Law novel Chapter 230

"Really? She says bad things about you and you think it's funny? What are you, a masochist?"

"As if you're one to talk." Drusilla handed the salad to Verena with a teasing smirk. "Take this out, will you?"

"Oh." Verena sneaked a bite before reluctantly placing the bowl on the table outside.

Drusilla then whipped up two more dishes and a soup before serving them.

During dinner, Colton sat quietly, his plate being filled by Verena who urged, "Colton, eat up. You need to grow big and strong."

Colton took his eating very seriously.

Verena, glancing at Colton, couldn't hold back, "It's just too much, you know? Enoch bullying our sweet Colton. Who could possibly want to upset such an angel?"

Drusilla rolled her eyes, "Don't stir the pot. Their father-son relationship is strained enough as it is."

"Well, you better have a word with Enoch. If he's harsh to Colton again, he'll have me to answer to," Verena retorted with a huff.

Drusilla's lips quirked up in a wry smile, "Alright, alright. I'll talk to him."

After the meal, Drusilla washed the dishes, then walked out with Colton clinging to her hand as if afraid he might get lost.

Looking down at him, she asked, "Feeling better now?"

Colton nodded, "Yeah."

Drusilla knew that Colton was not one to cry easily. But Enoch was different. After all, he was Colton’s dad. Every move Enoch made had a significant impact on Colton.

...

Drusilla, with Colton in tow, drove back to the Taylor family home.

Parking at the front, Oberon greeted her, "Welcome back, ma'am."

Drusilla opened the back door, retrieving some items, and with Oberon’s help, they brought in Colton and Cormac’s toys and some laundry.

Blythe was waiting in the living room, her relief palpable when she saw Colton following Drusilla in.

"Colton," Blythe called out.

Drusilla approached, seeing Cormac was drawing Enoch.

Back when school assignments involved drawing, the little guy always chose to draw Drusilla, never quite managing to depict his dad, whom he hadn't seen enough to remember.

But now, he was finally getting his wish.

Noticing Drusilla, Cormac beamed, "Mom, you're back?"

"Yeah."

"How's the drawing coming along?" Drusilla asked, sitting down beside him.

"Almost done," Cormac replied, his eyes lighting up. "Is Colton back?"

"Yes, he's downstairs," said Drusilla, settling onto the couch, her gaze fixed on Cormac.

Enoch, sitting nearby, cleared his throat, drawing attention.

Cormac, hearing this, quickly stood and moved closer to Enoch, "Dad, do you want some water?"
