Twins - The Unforeseen Legacy of My Ex's Uncle-in-Law novel Chapter 231

Enoch glanced his way and before a word could escape his lips, Cormac, as if on cue, scurried to grab a glass to fill it with water for him.

This little guy sure knows how to butter someone up!

Though Drusilla found comfort in seeing them get along so well, a twinge of jealousy crept into her heart. Why? It felt as though Cormac was being snatched away from her.

Enoch, reveling in the joy of drinking water served by his son, couldn't help but feel content. Despite being the one supposedly looking after the kid, it was Cormac who ended up taking care of him, always rushing to fetch whatever Enoch needed, as if worried Enoch might struggle to reach for things due to his leg.

After quenching his thirst, Enoch finally turned to Drusilla, asking, “Seen Verena around?”

“Yeah, I did.”

“She didn’t give you a hard time, did she?”

Drusilla said, “Nope.”

How could Verena possibly give her a hard time?

“When you see her next, be careful, she might try to set a trap for you.”

Drusilla couldn’t help but smirk at Enoch's words. What did he take Verena for?

“Enoch, you’re overthinking it! Verena’s not like that.”

“Look at you…” Enoch said, “That’s why I call you naive. Do you really think you can outplay her? You'd end up being sold and still help her count the cash.”

“Why do you have such a bad opinion of Verena?” Drusilla found it strange.

Enoch simply said, “It’s nothing.”

His bad impression of Verena stemmed entirely from her first visit, seeking a private word with Drusilla and leaving her distressed.

“Oh, right, Verena did have a message for you,” Drusilla remembered, thinking it necessary to mention.

“Yeah, Cormac is way better than his dad,” Drusilla couldn’t help but retort, irritated at Enoch’s constant digs at Colton.

Enoch responded, “I wasn’t even talking about your son. Why do you always get mad at me over this?”

Drusilla, with a forced smile, told Enoch, “Say whatever you want, just not in front of me. I don’t want to hear it!”

The conversation ended on a tense note.

After waiting in the room for a while without Cormac’s return, Drusilla told Enoch, “I’ll go check on them.”

Leaving Enoch behind, Drusilla stepped out and found Cormac and Colton back in the next room. Cormac was engrossed in the toys Drusilla had brought him, completely forgetting the matter he had mentioned earlier.

Noticing Drusilla at the door, Colton called out, “Mom.”

Drusilla smiled warmly at her two treasures, “You two go ahead and play.”
