Cormac's ears perked up at the sound of Drusilla's voice, a gentle reminder of the promise he'd just made - he had ventured out to get Colton.
"Hey, Colton, let's go see Dad, yeah?" Cormac suggested warmly.
"No thanks," came Colton's flat refusal.
"Why not? I thought Dad was your favorite?" Cormac probed, genuinely puzzled.
"He doesn't like me," Colton muttered, his attention seemingly more invested in the toy car he was fidgeting with than the conversation at hand. Despite his nonchalance, a hint of sadness was evident in his eyes.

Leaving the children in the room, Drusilla went to help Enoch with his acupuncture.
Upon her solo return, Enoch asked, "Where's Cormac?"
"Playing in the room. I told them to play for a bit, maybe do some of their homework," Drusilla explained as she started on Enoch's session.
Post-treatment, Drusilla couldn't help but broach a delicate subject, "Enoch, could you maybe be a bit kinder to Colton?"
Enoch's brow furrowed at her suggestion, "I'm not mean to him."
"You're so lenient with Cormac but so hard on Colton. It's easy for him to feel like you favor Cormac over him. This could really confuse him, you know?"
Hearing Drusilla's concern, Enoch sighed, "It's because Cormac is more compliant, and Colton... well, he's always been a bit odd."
"But you're his father," Drusilla pressed. "Can't you make an effort for your own son?"
...
Oberon arrived shortly after, documents in hand for Enoch's signature. As Enoch elegantly signed off, Oberon waited patiently.
However, instead of immediately handing back the documents, Enoch paused, looking up at Oberon with a curious question, "Oberon, what do you think of my personality?"
Caught off guard by such a loaded question, Oberon, who had grown accustomed to Enoch's unexpected queries, replied with practiced composure, "Mr. Taylor, you have a fantastic personality. Kind to everyone, polite, always caring towards your staff. The whole office thinks highly of you."
Enoch eyed Oberon skeptically, "Are you sure?"
Oberon internally sighed, remembering his own trials under Enoch's management, but maintained his stance, "Absolutely."
Handing back the signed documents, Enoch dismissed him, "Alright, you're off the hook for today."
