In the cover of darkness, he took advantage of a moment with Drusilla and kissed her, only to find that she didn't resist.
Enoch was taken aback. "Why aren't you pushing me away?"
He remembered all too well how she had resisted him before!
Could it be that his constant protection over the last few days had made her change her mind?
Drusilla said, "Can I ever truly escape your grasp? Mr. Taylor, you’ve got quite the playbook!"
Enoch retorted, "How have I played you?"
Even though he had made his move, having it spelled out made him somewhat uncomfortable.
Drusilla explained, "You even dragged someone else into this, calling Cybele over in the middle of the night. You put her in a tough spot, which in turn, puts me in one. Enoch, if you have something to say or want from me, just come directly to me. You want to sleep with me? Fine! I'll let you have your way."
With that, she took his hand and placed it on her chest.
The atmosphere in the room turned tense.
Enoch paused, hearing Drusilla prompt, "Go ahead!"
Everything about this moment, although it was what Enoch had longed for, made him feel incredibly frustrated and humiliated. Just as he was getting carried away, it felt like a bucket of cold water had been dumped on him, and he quickly withdrew his hand.
Drusilla had braced herself before speaking up.
Enoch's desire for her was clear, and at this point, she felt indifferent about what kind of men entered her life.
