It all started with a few words, but it was Drusilla who threw the first jab.
There Drusilla sat, quietly munching on her burger, acting as if the world around her didn't concern her in the slightest.
Harlan glanced her way before turning to Saskia, "Do you even realize where you are? This is the Taylor household. Are you trying to get me and Lilith kicked out because of you?"
Even Harlan thought his mom had gone a bit too far with her words!
Blaming Drusilla was one thing, but going head-to-head with Enoch? What was she thinking?
Saskia caught Lilith's teary eyes and then looked at Harlan, who was frantically signaling her with his eyes.
But nobody else said a word.
She had thought Enoch's words carried no weight.
Only after Harlan's intervention did she realize, in this house, Enoch was the last person you'd want to cross!
She glanced at Enoch, "I was wrong just now. I spoke out of turn. It's not Lilith or my son's fault."
Though begrudgingly, she had to swallow her pride before Enoch.
Enoch seemed unimpressed, "That's your apology?"
"I..."
"And, you offended my wife. If you're going to apologize, it should be to her."
He said this while looking at Drusilla, his hand resting protectively on the back of her chair. The gesture spoke volumes.
Saskia retorted, "I won't apologize to her!"
Drusilla glanced at Enoch with a smile, "Honey, let's not make things difficult for her. If she doesn't want to apologize, just let her leave. Right?"
Her tone was understanding, but the words left Saskia nearly fuming with rage.
Harlan eyed the troublemaking Drusilla, "Do you have to be like this, Drusilla?"
It seemed like his mom might have apologized!
But with that comment, she probably wouldn't want to anymore!
This was infuriating!
Seeing Saskia apologize, Enoch added, "I don't know what Drusilla means to you, but she's my wife now, the apple of my eye. If I ever hear you bad-mouthing her again... I won't bother with you. But your son, he'll pay the price for every word you say, understand?"
It was clear Saskia treasured her son above all else.
Threaten her, and she wouldn't flinch.
But threaten her son's future? That, she feared.
Just as expected, she shut her mouth, sitting there silently, a picture of grievance.
Drusilla, seeing this unfold, glanced at Enoch, comforted by the thought that with him by her side, she'd never be wronged.
...
After dinner, as everyone dispersed, Verena followed Drusila upstairs to Colton and Cormac's room, exclaiming, "Damn, Enoch is so cool! I'm totally in love with him."
Drusilla, lounging on the couch, shot her a look, "What did you say?"
