Twins - The Unforeseen Legacy of My Ex's Uncle-in-Law novel Chapter 272

Today of all days, I had finally started to warm up to Drusilla, and then she goes and pulls a stunt like this. Disappointment doesn't even begin to cover it.

Blythe, her face as cold as a winter's day, demanded, “Drusilla, would you care to explain?”

Drusilla replied, “I was just out for a walk, ran into someone I know.”

“A walk?” Saskia scoffed with disbelief. “You had dinner, took the kids inside, and now you're out again, all for a 'walk'? Who goes out for a walk in the middle of the night?”

Drusilla insisted, “I really was just out for a walk! My nephew-in-law can vouch for me.”

Turning her head, Drusilla looked at Harlan.

Harlan, standing there, turned around, approaching with a look of concern. “Mom!”

He never imagined he'd nearly get thrown under the bus by his own mother.

Saskia, surprised to see Harlan, questioned him, “Why are you here? Shouldn't you be with Lilith in your room? What brings you out?”

Before Harlan could even get a word in, Saskia continued, “Let me guess, did this woman summon you? With Lilith pregnant, she must be trying to lure you away! How could you be so naive? Drusilla is notorious for her antics, but you? If Lilith finds out, she’ll be heartbroken.”

She was quick to pin the blame on Drusilla, making sure her son remained blameless in her eyes.

Drusilla admired Saskia's ability to twist the truth with just a few words.

Blythe, standing to the side, was also taken aback to see Harlan.

“What is it then?” Blythe asked sharply. “Explain yourself in front of your mother. Are you being fair to Lilith?”

Seeing Blythe’s anger directed at her son, Saskia quickly jumped to Harlan's defense, “Madam, it’s clear Drusilla is the instigator! Harlan loves Lilith deeply, he’s always treated her well. Drusilla must be jealous of Lilith’s pregnancy, that's why she summoned Harlan. He’s always been too kind, perhaps because of their past. But I’ve warned him about being too lenient. This is all Drusilla’s doing, it has nothing to do with him.”

Drusilla watched as Saskia desperately tried to shift all the blame onto her, reminiscent of how everyone blamed her for their divorce as if she had been unfaithful.

Drusilla spoke up, “Harlan was the one who asked to meet. He sent me a message. See for yourself.”

After saying this, she showed her phone to Saskia and Blythe.

Saskia’s face darkened at the revelation, her anxiety palpable as she turned to Harlan, “Harlan, you asked her to meet for a reason, right? I’m sorry, I misunderstood! My apologies for jumping to conclusions today!”
