Today of all days, I had finally started to warm up to Drusilla, and then she goes and pulls a stunt like this. Disappointment doesn't even begin to cover it.
Blythe, her face as cold as a winter's day, demanded, “Drusilla, would you care to explain?”
Drusilla replied, “I was just out for a walk, ran into someone I know.”
“A walk?” Saskia scoffed with disbelief. “You had dinner, took the kids inside, and now you're out again, all for a 'walk'? Who goes out for a walk in the middle of the night?”
Drusilla insisted, “I really was just out for a walk! My nephew-in-law can vouch for me.”
Turning her head, Drusilla looked at Harlan.
Harlan, standing there, turned around, approaching with a look of concern. “Mom!”
He never imagined he'd nearly get thrown under the bus by his own mother.
Saskia, surprised to see Harlan, questioned him, “Why are you here? Shouldn't you be with Lilith in your room? What brings you out?”
Before Harlan could even get a word in, Saskia continued, “Let me guess, did this woman summon you? With Lilith pregnant, she must be trying to lure you away! How could you be so naive? Drusilla is notorious for her antics, but you? If Lilith finds out, she’ll be heartbroken.”
She was quick to pin the blame on Drusilla, making sure her son remained blameless in her eyes.
Drusilla admired Saskia's ability to twist the truth with just a few words.
Blythe, standing to the side, was also taken aback to see Harlan.
