When Enoch finally stepped out of his study, he headed straight to his room only to find Drusilla missing.
"Where is she?" he inquired.
Oberon glanced around the room before responding, "She must have taken the kids to bed, I guess!"
"Call her back for me," Enoch said, a hint of jealousy in his tone. It seemed like she had eyes only for the children lately.
Oberon nodded and left the room, making his way next door. There, he found Colton and Cormac already sound asleep.
"Blythe," Oberon greeted as he turned to see her approaching.
"Good evening, Oberon. You're still up?" Blythe asked, a soft smile on her face.
"You looking for Drusilla?" she continued.
"Yes," Oberon replied. "Mr. Taylor wanted a word with her."
"I sent her away!" Blythe declared, her tone turning serious.
Oberon looked surprised. "Why would you do that?"
"I'll go talk to Enoch," Blythe said, bypassing his question as she headed to Enoch's room.
Enoch was lounging on the couch when his mother entered, clearly caught off guard. "You're still awake?"
"It's late, and you're still buried in work? I've told you time and again to get some rest," Blythe chided gently.
"Don't be so hostile towards Verena," Blythe tried to explain. "She hasn't said anything to me. It's just that I'd prefer you with her over Drusilla. I can't seem to warm up to her."
Sensing his mother's disapproval of Drusilla, Enoch asked, "What did she do this time? Did she upset you again?"
Blythe insisted, "She's not right for you, Enoch. If you don't have feelings for her, you should make that clear."
"I got it, Mom. You should head to bed," Enoch dismissed, eager to end the conversation.
After Blythe left, Oberon came back in. Enoch looked up, expectantly asking, "Where is she?"
"She stepped out," Oberon reported.
Sighing deeply, Enoch massaged his temples, "Must have been a spat with my mother. Let her have some space for now."
