"You're being totally out of line!" Drusilla exclaimed. "Weren't you the one who brought up divorce? You said you never loved me. Enoch... we were just partners, nothing more. I've always known my place. But you... you've never shown me any respect!"
"And what does respect look like to you?"
He didn't respect her?
Enoch felt like he was being accused unjustly!
Sure, he could dismiss such claims from others, but coming from Drusilla, it stung. He always thought of himself as courteous and tender towards her, especially since she married him. He was determined not to let her suffer any injustice, shielding her from any form of bullying.
And she still says he didn't respect her?
Drusilla looked at Enoch, her voice tinged with frustration, "At the very least, not getting handsy or kissing someone without their consent when you claim to dislike them..."
Recalling how he had forcibly kissed her in the parlor earlier that day, Drusilla felt a surge of annoyance.
Perhaps to him, such actions were trivial, but for her... if it wasn't someone she liked, she definitely didn't want any physical contact!
Enoch looked at her, genuinely puzzled, "I don't get handsy with people I dislike!"
"But you did! Today you even..." Drusilla caught herself mid-sentence.
She fixed her gaze on Enoch, "Just don't deny it! It's not like I have amnesia."
Pretending to be clueless?
Did he really think she had a short memory?
Refusing to acknowledge what he had done!
Enoch, trying to maintain his composure, insisted, "I only get close to people I like!"
Drusilla paused, dumbstruck by his words. Was he implying... that he liked her?
Her heart skipped a beat at the thought.
But then she remembered what he had said in the car yesterday...
No!
The room fell silent until Colton and Cormac came in, followed by Blythe. Blythe entered and saw both Enoch and Drusilla, saying, "Drusilla, I'm taking Colton and Cormac home. It's getting late, and they're probably tired."
Drusilla replied, "I'll come with you."
Blythe glanced at Enoch then said, "Stay with Enoch. He's not well, and he could use your care. Remind him to head home soon."
After saying this, Blythe left with the kids, leaving Drusilla behind.
Drusilla, who had just started to stand, sat back down, casting a glance at Enoch without saying a word.
They remained there until the event was over, finally making their way downstairs...
The driver was already waiting at the door.
Derek personally saw Enoch off.
"Mr. Taylor, get some rest soon."
