Enoch remained silent as he got into the car.
Drusilla stood aside, waiting for him to get in before she followed suit.
At the doorway, Harlan and Lilith were also present.
Lilith, observing Drusilla's constant shadowing of Enoch, remarked, “They’re about to get a divorce, and there’s Drusilla, still clinging to Uncle Enoch. What’s she hoping to achieve?”
Harlan glanced at Drusilla, his voice tinged with schadenfreude, “What else can she do but cling? Waiting to be kicked out?”
He had always said, the Taylor family would never truly accept her!
And there it was…
As soon as Odette returned, his words had come to fruition.
Seeing Drusilla now, he felt no sympathy, only that she had it coming!
Harlan opened the car door, letting Lilith in before both headed home together.
...
Night fell, accompanied by a light rain. Drusilla sat quietly next to Enoch in the car, with only the driver besides them, and Oberon in another car behind.
Without initiating conversation, Drusilla found the silence between them awkward.
Enoch, rubbing his temples, felt a headache coming on after a busy day.
“Feeling unwell? Let me give you a massage,” Drusilla offered, attempting to break the silence.
Enoch didn’t respond.
As Drusilla moved closer and was about to raise her hand, Enoch caught it.
He opened his eyes, looked at her, and the driver discreetly raised the partition.
Their proximity was close, Enoch’s face almost touching hers.
With one hand in his, and his other arm around her waist, Drusilla could feel his breath.
The words he had said earlier in the box room echoed in her mind— I only get handsy with someone I like!
