Raymond waved off Mr. Stanton's offer with a polite smile, "No trouble at all, Mr. Stanton. My driver's waiting outside, and I've got a client meeting coming up."
He couldn't quite put his finger on it, but Raymond got the vibe that Harlan was up to something. They weren't exactly buddies, and Raymond felt it was best to keep it that way, hence he shrugged off Harlan's eager hospitality.
Harlan seemed slightly disappointed, "Well, when you're free, let me buy you dinner then."
Raymond chuckled, nodding, "Thanks for the offer, Mr. Stanton."
With that, he glanced at Drusilla, "I'll take my leave."
Drusilla nodded in response, "Take care."
She didn't bother to see Raymond out. However, Harlan's voice soon filled the air, "Is Enoch thinking of switching acupuncturists?"
Turning to face Harlan, Drusilla could sense his underlying intentions.
It was clear he was just waiting for a chance to see her downfall, thinking she'd be out of the picture soon.
She fixed a surprised gaze on Harlan, "Since when did you start calling him Enoch? In his presence, isn't it always Uncle Enoch? You're quite bold using his first name now, aren't you?"
Harlan, catching the hint of sarcasm in her tone, quickly corrected himself, "Yes, but Aunt Drusilla, you and my Uncle Enoch, you're heading for a split, aren't you? You thought I was out to get you when I mentioned it before. How about now? Drusilla, for someone as naive as you, you're just asking to be played!"
"I'm naive," Drusilla retorted, visibly irked by Harlan's words, "So you're saying, if I had kept my distance from Enoch as you advised, I wouldn't be naive?"
Harlan was really good at patting himself on the back.
Drusilla was on the verge of laughter, not with joy but with frustration!
Even if one day she did part ways with Enoch, what business was it of Harlan's to mock her at every turn?
"You're heartless," Harlan went on, "You can't even recognize when someone's genuinely good to you. You just go for someone like Enoch who treats you like a toy."
"So, you mean to say you've been genuinely good to me?"
