Twins - The Unforeseen Legacy of My Ex's Uncle-in-Law novel Chapter 371

"Nothing much," Drusilla muttered, unable to articulate the day's events.

She knew she wasn't handling things well, but the last thing she wanted was to be the object of someone's amusement.

After all, she and Serge weren't that close.

Serge, sensing the underlying tone in her voice, offered, "You know, if you need to talk, I'm here."

"Nothing's wrong," she insisted, though the gloom in her voice was palpable even over the phone.

Sensing her reluctance, Serge decided not to push further.

...

After a brief chat, Serge hung up. Drusilla put her phone down and headed for a shower. When she returned, she was surprised to find Enoch still awake.

She had assumed that his early retreat to bed meant he was asleep.

But there he was, engrossed in a book.

Catching her gaze, Enoch looked up and asked, "Was that Serge on the phone?"

Drusilla averted her eyes, "It's none of your business."

She didn't head for his bed but instead grabbed a spare blanket, preparing the couch for herself.

Enoch observed her cool demeanor and asked, "Is this some cold war tactic to get me to agree to a divorce?"

Unbelievable... not even a hint of charm!

Drusilla's lips twitched at his mention of a cold war.

This guy...

Always ready to paint her as the villain!

She retorted, "Exactly! So for everyone's sake, let’s get it over with, shall we?"

"I'm just fascinated by your angry side! I get a kick out of your cold shoulder," he shamelessly declared.

Drusilla glanced at him, utterly speechless.

Enoch studied her, at a loss for words.

She didn’t look at him, and after what seemed like ages, he reached over, taking her hand.

She opened her eyes to see him back in his wheelchair, his white shirt clinging to him, soaked with sweat.

His gaze was intense, authoritative. "You want a divorce, I’ll grant it."

Drusilla perked up, surprised. "Really?"

He was adamant just last night, clinging on like a barnacle.

What changed?

Enoch continued, "But... as I said, not until I’m back on my feet! I refuse to be cast aside because of my legs again. Once I'm standing, you can leave—I won’t stop you."

Hearing Enoch's words, Drusilla understood. His desire to keep her wasn't out of affection but pride.

After being abandoned by Odette, he couldn't bear the thought of being left by another, especially not by a woman with a divorce already on her record.
