Twins - The Unforeseen Legacy of My Ex's Uncle-in-Law novel Chapter 372

Drusilla glanced at Enoch's legs, resting in the wheelchair.

Seeing her hesitation, Enoch asked, "What's the matter? You said I'd be able to stand again. Was that just a load of baloney?"

Drusilla ran a hand through her hair and lay back down on the sofa. "Got it. Just give me a minute, will you? I need a bit more shut-eye."

She lay there, the intensity from the night before having simmered down somewhat.

Just then, there was a knock on the door.

Drusilla was about to get up and answer it, but Enoch was already wheeling himself over. It was unusual; he always made her get the door. Today, he seemed keen.

Cormac's voice piped up from the doorway, "Dad, is Mom awake yet?"

Enoch looked at the little guy, frowning slightly. "You're here to see your mom, not your old man?"

He'd grown accustomed to Cormac treating Drusilla like she was his real mom. Still, it stung a little, seeing the kid favor Drusilla over his biological dad.

With sharp eyes, Cormac noticed the bandage on Enoch's hand, and the scab that had already formed overnight.

"Dad, what happened to your hand?" Cormac asked.

Enoch glanced down. "Oh, got bit by a dog."

Drusilla rolled her eyes.

Yeah, right!

She stood up, moving behind Enoch, and smiled at Cormac. "Hey, Cormac."

Cormac was already dressed, having been well looked after since joining the Taylor family. Honestly, having some help with the kids had been a relief for Drusilla.

Colton stood nearby, both kids looking at Drusilla with concern.

Cormac spoke up, "I've got class soon."

Kendrick glanced up, his eyes landing on Drusilla. His lips curled into a mocking smile.

Drusilla met his gaze, feeling the chill of disdain in his eyes. It made her skin crawl, evoking a mix of insignificance and the urge to slap that smug look off his face.

"What are you standing there for?" A gentle voice interrupted her thoughts.

Drusilla turned to see Enoch, now beside her in his wheelchair, looking at her.

His words snapped her out of it, realizing she'd been rooted to the spot.

Enoch looked at Drusilla, then addressed the kids. "Hurry up and grab some breakfast, or you'll be late."

With that, he wheeled himself over to the dining table. "Morning, big brother," he greeted Kendrick.

Kendrick replied, "Just got back yesterday. Lilith's in the hospital, and I wasn't comfortable leaving her alone."
