Urging Him to Get a Divorce (Aveline and Xavier) novel Chapter 165

Chapter 165

[I have an important meeting this afternoon. I’ll come over tonight, and we can go to the hospital to see your step- mother together.]

A chill spread across Aveline’s face. She put the phone back in her purse.

Jasmine and Julian, of course, noticed Aveline’s expression darken. Jasmine quickly asked:

What’s wrong?

Aveline gave a sarcastic laugh. Xavier said he’s coming over tonight to go with me to the hospital to see Courtney.

Jasmine frowned. What does he mean by that?

Aveline laughed. What does he mean? He wants me to apologize to Courtney, of course.

Damn it, he’s insane.

Julian’s voice was tinged with displeasure. That’s going too far.

Aveline said flatly, I’m not going to deal with him.

Let’s eat.

After lunch, Aveline went back to her room to rest and saw Helena standing in front of her door.

Have you had lunch?

Helena replied to her, I’m about to go eat.

Aveline didn’t want to ask where Helena ate her lunch. That was something Xavier had arranged, and it had nothing to do with her.

She opened the door, and Helena said from the side, Ma’am, I heard from the manager that Gabriel is in the hospi- tal.

Aveline said coldly, I’m not interested. You don’t need to tell me.

Helena was embarrassed. Oh, I understand.

I thought you might want to know, that’s why I told you. I won’t mention it again.

Ma’am, did you eat lunch okay? Are you still feeling nauseous?

Aveline pushed the door open, glanced at Helena, and said, If Xavier asks you, just tell him it’s none of his damn

business.

With that, she went inside and shut the door.

Helena:

Sigh, the husband and wife were fighting, and she was caught in the middle. It was so difficult.

She thought for a moment and replied to Xavier, [Sir, I asked Ma’am, but she’s unwilling to tell me if she’s still feel- ing nauseous.]

Xavier: [Then what did she say?]

Helena mustered her courage. [None of his damn business.]

Xavier chuckled, thinking that if Aveline still had the energy to mock him, her morning sickness couldn’t be that se-

vere.

Aveline lay in bed. She couldn’t fall asleep because of a faint feeling of nausea.

At twothirty, she got up to wash up, then put on her coat, grabbed her purse, and opened the door to head to the con- struction site.

Unexpectedly, Eileen was standing in front of her door, looking at her with a grim expression, as if she had been wait- ing there specifically for her to come out.

Aveline ignored her, shut the door with a cold look, and then went to get Jasmine from next door.

Eileen shouted at her, Aveline, your dad sent me. If you go apologize to your mom and she forgives you, this whole thing will be over.

Hearing Eileen say your mom, your mom,Aveline was utterly disgusted and gave her an icy stare.

Eileen, how did my mom treat you when she was alive?

Eileen froze.

Aveline gave a cold, silent laugh.

Devin’s whole family were ungrateful people. Her mother had been so good to them when she was alive. Whenever they asked for money, her mother would give them any amount, but now they were acting like lapdogs for Courtney, the other woman.

Jasmine and Julian both opened their doors and came out, startled to see Eileen.

Jasmine quickly asked, Aveline, what’s wrong? Is she giving you trouble?

Aveline said flatly, Ignore her. Let’s go.

The three of them got into the elevator, and Eileen didn’t follow.

Jasmine said with some concern, Aveline, I have a bad feeling about this. You should be more careful.

Julian also looked at Aveline seriously. It’s best if Jasmine and I are with

Aveline nodded. Mmm, okay. But don’t you two worry too much. That motherdaughter duo, Courtney and Josephine, just love to get under people’s skin.

Aveline was at the construction site with Jasmine and Julian, checking the newly delivered stone, when her phone rang in her bag. She recognized the ringtone for Miranda’s calls.

When Miranda called, it was usually about her grandparents, so Aveline quickly stepped aside to answer the phone.

What’s wrong, Miranda?

Miranda said, Your father just called. Good thing I was the one who answered. He was furious and demanded to speak to your grandparents. I made an excuse and told him they weren’t home.
