Urging Him to Get a Divorce (Aveline and Xavier) novel Chapter 213

Chapter 213

Her phone rang in her purse. Aveline took it out, saw it was Xavier calling, and rejected it with a cold expression.

Xavier immediately sent a text: [Something happened, and you’re not answering my calls.]

[What exactly is going on? You need to tell me.]

Fiona leaned closer to Aveline, read the texts, and scoffed. Tell him? So he can find a lawyer to help Josephine?

Why doesn’t he ask Josephine to explain it?

Oh, right. The delicate Miss Josephine only knows how to play the victim and cry; she doesn’t want to explain any- thing.

Aveline’s expression was cold as she put her phone back in her purse.

Fiona glanced at her arm and frowned. We need to get that treated at a hospital right away.

Aveline glanced at the wound too. It was indeed frighteningly red and swollen, but the restaurant owner had already disinfected it with iodine for her. It would be fine.

It’s been disinfected, so it’s fine. It’ll scab over and heal in a few days.

Damn it, I wonder if it’ll leave a scar.

Aveline replied to Fiona, Even if it does, it should be very faint.

You’re certainly taking it well.

Aveline’s gaze turned cold and heavy as she looked over at Josephine, Eileen, and Vincent.

It wasn’t that she was taking it well; she was just furious that the police only detained Vincent for fourteen days and fined him, instead of giving him the punishment he deserved.

Aveline drank her water, sullen and silent.

Xavier and Gerald walked in, scanned the room, and were about to head toward Aveline when Josephine ran to him. Darling, you’re here! You and Gerald need to talk to the police right away and bail Vin out.

It’ll be bad if Vin gets a criminal record.

Xavier’s dark eyes turned a little colder. He didn’t speak, just looked at Aveline.

Gerald, not knowing what Xavier was thinking, comforted Josephine. Don’t be scared. Once Xavier and I figure out what’s going on, we’ll defend Vin.

Xavier, look

Xavier ignored him and walked toward Aveline.

Seeing this, Josephine’s expression darkened, and she looked at Gerald.

Seeing her aggrieved look, Gerald suddenly felt a pang of sympathy and patted her shoulder. Just be patient. Xavier probably just went to get the story.

Then he went to question Vincent.

When Aveline saw him walk in, she just gave him a cold glance before lowering her eyes and continuing to sip her water slowly.

Fiona snorted coldly. The evidence is solid. Let’s see how they get him out of this.

Xavier’s tall figure stood before Aveline. What happened to your arm?

Aveline ignored him, not even looking up.

Fiona snapped, Xavier, don’t come here and put on a show.

How come it’s just Gerald? Where’s the legal dream team?

Xavier ignored Fiona, his gaze still on Aveline’s injured arm. It looks bad. Let’s get it treated at the hospital first. Come on, I’ll take you.

Aveline looked up at him, a sneer on her lips. Sucking up to me is useless. Vincent is going to prison for sure, and I still think his punishment is too light.

Stay away from me.

How did this happen?

As Xavier spoke, he crouched down and reached for Aveline’s arm.

Aveline instinctively pulled back, slapping his hand away with her other one. Don’t touch me.

Fiona also yelled, Hey, Xavier, that’s enough.

Xavier just stared at Aveline. I just want to see how bad the wound is. Why are you so prickly?

Did you disinfect it with iodine yourself?

Aveline glared at him. Do you not understand the words stay away from me?

Or do you understand the word get lost?

Xavier said nothing, just looking at her, his dark eyes as still as an old well.

Just then, Josephine walked over. Brotherinlaw, sister’s wound has been disinfected. I asked her if she wanted to go to the hospital, but she said it wasn’t serious and she didn’t need to.

Sigh, I hope it doesn’t leave a scar.

Aveline scoffed, You asked me?

Are you sure you weren’t seeing a ghost?

Fiona mocked, When you do too many bad things, you start seeing ghosts.

Josephine bit her lip, her eyes welling up with tears. Sister, I’m sad that you’re hurt. Please don’t say that, it makes my heart ache even more.

Aveline looked away, otherwise she wouldn’t be able to stop herself from slapping Josephine again right here in the local police precinct.
