Fiona continued to taunt Josephine, “I hope it really does hurt. If you died from the pain, the world would have one less disgusting person in it.”

Xavier stood up. “How did she get this injury?”

He asked, looking at Josephine.

Josephine looked like she wanted to speak but stopped, just looking at Xavier with those tear–filled eyes.

Aveline said coldly, “Both of you, get the hell away from me.”

Fiona sneered, “Mr. Beltran, go watch the security footage yourself. Don’t listen to some third–rate director, her scripts are terribly written.”

Xavier stopped talking and turned to find a police officer.

With Xavier’s back turned, Josephine could finally drop her act. She shot Aveline a vicious glare and lowered her voice,

“We’ll see. Let’s see who my darling helps.‘

After saying that, Josephine turned and left.

Fiona cursed, “That damn woman. Does she think Xavier is the law, or that the law is just for show?”

Aveline’s expression was cold as she took out her phone to text Miranda, asking if her maternal grandparents were asleep yet.

Gerald saw Xavier walk over. “I’ve asked Vincent. He said he ran into Aveline in the parking lot. Because Eileen was falsely accused by her, he wanted to talk some sense into Aveline as her cousin, but she wouldn’t listen and insulted him, so they got into an argument and a fight.”

Aveline must have done something after running into the restaurant. Either she made it worse herself, or she put something on it to make it look so awful.

Aveline knows Xavier’s bottom line, too. She’s deliberately playing the victim for him.

Josephine reached out and grabbed Xavier’s arm. “Dear… brother–in–law, if you’re angry because my sister got hurt, I can apologize to her on Vin’s behalf.”

“I’ll go apologize right now. I’ll even kneel if she asks me to.”

As she spoke, tears streamed down Josephine’s delicate face.
