But he held onto a sliver of hope that Aveline was just betting he wouldn’t sign.
Now, that sliver of hope seemed faint.
Xavier stared at the message on his phone screen. Claude called his name, but he didn’t react.
Claude raised his voice, “Mr. Beltran.”
Xavier snapped out of it and looked up at him.
“Everyone’s here. Should we start?”
Xavier gave a cold “Mm,” and looked down to reply to Aveline,
[Fine. Look at you, all grown up.]
Then he silenced his phone and gestured for Claude to start the meeting.
Aveline didn’t see Xavier’s message until she had parked at Mount Ardwood. A cold smirk touched her lips. She put
her phone in her purse and got out of the car, heading for the site office.
Jasmine and Julian were already there. When Jasmine saw her come in, she nudged Julian.
“You
go
make coffee. I’ll talk to her.”
So Julian went to make coffee, and Jasmine sat down in the seat next to Aveline.
“Ava, did Fiona go to court today?”
Aveline said calmly, “We’ll talk after Rupert’s birthday banquet on Friday.”
Jasmine was shocked. “Your maternal grandparents don’t approve of your divorce?”
Aveline shook her head. “No, it’s just that I’m afraid of upsetting Rupert and ruining his birthday celebration.”
Jasmine scoffed. “You told Rupert you wanted a divorce a long time ago. If he was going to be upset, it would’ve hap- pened already.”
Julian brought over the coffee, and Jasmine told him what they were talking about.
Julian gave Aveline a deep look. “Aveline and her maternal grandparents are kind and considerate.”
Jasmine sighed. “Ava is such a good woman. It’s Xavier’s loss for not cherishing her.”
Aveline just smiled faintly and said nothing.

Chapter 250
Around ten in the morning, Fiona sent a message: [The lawsuit against Eileen has been filed.]
Aveline replied, [Thanks. I appreciate it.]
Fiona: [Once Eileen gets the notice, that family of hers will be coming to bother you again.]
[My brother found a driver for you who knows Traditional Martial Arts. He’s coming to Entora on Friday for Rupert’s birthday banquet and will bring the person with him.]
Aveline replied, [If he knows Traditional Martial Arts, then arrange for him to be my maternal grandparents‘ driver.]
With a bodyguard watching over her maternal grandparents, she wouldn’t have to worry about Jacob bothering them and could focus on her work.
Ever since Devin, Jacob, Josephine, and Eileen came to Parkview Estates to cause trouble, she’d been even more wor- ried they would find a way to sneak into her maternal grandparents‘ neighborhood.
Fiona: [Okay. I’ll find another one for your studio.]
Aveline: [No rush. Let’s wait until the company is officially open.]
That evening, in her hotel room, Aveline had just gotten out of the shower and was applying skincare products when her phone rang.
She walked over to the nightstand to look. Seeing it was a call from Xavier, she ignored it and went back to her skin- care routine.
As always, after the call ended, a text from Xavier came through.
[She just wants a divorce, so she’s treating me like an enemy? Not picking up any of my calls.]
[I’m in Singapore. Is there anything you want? I’ll bring it back for you.]
Aveline really wanted to text him back, “Does the sun rise in the west in Singapore?”
Since when did Xavier ever ask her if she wanted anything when he traveled for work?
But she decided it was best to ignore him, figuring he sent the message just to test her, and if she replied, he’d think she still cared and wasn’t really serious about the divorce.
Aveline put her phone on silent, grabbed a book, and leaned against the headboard to read.
When she got tired, she turned off the bedside lamp and lay down to sleep.
In a penthouse in a luxury complex in Singapore, Kim Beltran stood on the balcony leaning against the railing, feel- ing the still–warm night breeze, phone in hand.
After waiting for over an hour, Aveline hadn’t replied.
He checked the time; she was probably asleep by now.
Xavier glanced at the phone screen, smiled, and went back inside.

Chapter 250
“Alright, Aveline. You’ve really got some nerve.”
The next morning, Xavier was in a meeting when Claude walked in with a phone, leaned close, and whispered:
“Mr. Beltran, it’s Mr. Henderson on the phone.”
Xavier said coolly, “What is it?”
“Mr. Henderson said that Mrs… Sutton has filed a lawsuit against Eileen for intentional injury.”

When is the novel ending? It’s so unnecessarily long… not a single intimacy or connection just fighting and bickering from the beginning to end...
