[Aveline, are you free today? Valentina said she misses her pretty aunt and wants to hang out with you.]
Aveline replied, [I’m out playing ball with some friends.]
Brielle: [Playing ball?
What kind?
Can Valentina play?]
Valentina was still too young and hadn’t started learning tennis yet, so Aveline replied: [Tennis.]
[Why don’t you bring Valentina over? The club here has a kids‘ play area too.]
Brielle: [Okay, I’ll ask Valentina.]
Then she called Xavier.
Xavier had just gotten back to the Beltran’s mansion and was waiting for Brielle’s call, so he picked up right away.
“Did you find out?”
Brielle tsked, “Someone’s eager.”
“She said she’s playing tennis at a club, probably the one our family always goes to.”
Xavier asked, “You didn’t ask her which club?”
Aveline wants to avoid him, so she might not go to the club he usually goes to.
Brielle replied, “She asked me to bring Valentina to play.”
Xavier understood it had to be that club, so he said, “Alright, I’ll bring Valentina over.”
“I’m going to pick up Valentina now.”
Brielle said irritably, “You’re just using my daughter.”
Xavier changed into workout clothes and went downstairs. In the living room, Rupert and Lauren

saw him, and Lauren asked,
“Didn’t you go for a run this morning? Why are you going to work out again?”

Xavier replied. “I’m going to the club for tennis. Aveline is there too. I’m picking up Valentina first to take her out for some fun this weekend.”
When they heard Aveline was there, both Rupert and Lauren thought his relationship with Aveline had improved, especially since he’d had breakfast at Garden Estate after his run that morning.
Rupert said, “Since Aveline has forgiven you, you have to treat her well. Don’t make her angry again.”
Xavier knew his grandfather had misunderstood. He smiled bitterly to himself but said, “I know.”
Lauren said, “Since you two have made up, she should move back home. She shouldn’t always be living at her maternal grandparents‘ place, or she could go back to Parkview Estates.”
“You two should have a child already. It’s not like Aveline’s job is physically demanding. She can work while she’s pregnant.”
When Xavier heard his mom bring up kids again, he got annoyed and said coolly, “I’m leaving.”
Rupert quickly asked, “Did you tell Aveline about the trip to Mount Ardwood?”
Xavier replied, “I told Collin and Paulina. They said they’ll talk it over with Aveline and get back
to me.‘
With that, he left without looking back, to avoid his grandfather and mother asking more questions.
Arriving at Brielle’s house, he saw Brielle had also changed into workout clothes. Xavier was surprised, “You’re coming too?”
Brielle shot him a look. “If I let you take Valentina alone, Aveline will think I’m helping you track
her down.”
Xavier smiled. “Fine, you come along. That way Aveline won’t get mad.”
Once in the car, Brielle asked Xavier, “You and Aveline still haven’t made up?”
Brielle didn’t know that Aveline had filed for divorce. Xavier had already used his connections to temporarily put the case on hold, so he didn’t plan on telling her.
He said lightly, “One step at a time. I’ll eventually win her over.”

Just then, Valentina said, “Mommy, Auntie is going to divorce Uncle.”
Xavier:

Brielle glanced at Xavier driving, then quickly said, “Valentina, don’t say such things.”
Valentina protested, “I’m not making it up! Auntie told me.‘

Xavier said, “Your aunt was just mad at your uncle that day and said that in anger. Don’t take it seriously, and don’t mention it again.”
“Especially in front of your great–grandfather and Grandma Paulina, you absolutely can’t say that, okay?”
Valentina nodded, “Okay.”
Xavier added, “Uncle and Auntie will never get a divorce.”
Hearing this, Valentina said happily, “That’s great! If Uncle and Auntie get divorced, I won’t have an auntie anymore.”
“Uncle, I can’t bear to lose Auntie, so you can’t divorce her, okay?”
Xavier replied, “Okay. Uncle will never, ever divorce Auntie.”
Even though Xavier said that, Brielle felt something was off. If Aveline wasn’t serious about the divorce, she wouldn’t have said something like that out of anger in front of a child.
With Valentina present, Brielle couldn’t press Xavier for details, so she decided to wait for a better time to really ask him about it.
At the club, Leona received a message from Jason, letting her know that Aveline was also at the club. Her face darkened.

When is the novel ending? It’s so unnecessarily long… not a single intimacy or connection just fighting and bickering from the beginning to end...
