Chapter 71
Aveline questioned him coldly, “What are you doing?”
In the dimness, Xavier’s dark eyes seemed even deeper. He said flatly, “Go back to the bedroom and sleep.”
Aveline’s face was cold. “Xavier, get out.”
Xavier didn’t get angry at her words. Calmly, he said, “I’ve spoken with the Patriarch. He doesn’t approve of the di- vorce. He said you’re the only wife I can have in this lifetime.”
Aveline couldn’t help but sneer, “Even if you become a widower, it has nothing to do with me.‘
་་
Xavier said flatly, “You’re alive and well. How could I become a widower?”
Aveline said, “An old man without a wife is also a widower. Besides, Xavier, it’s just not having a wife, not not hav- ing women. You can still do as you please.”
He just thinks she’s easy to bully, making her be this wife in name only to keep up appearances for him, while he and Josephine continue to do as they please.
Xavier stopped talking, got directly onto the bed, and reached for her blanket.
Aveline exclaimed in alarm, “What are you doing?”
Xavier said flatly, “If you won’t go sleep in the bedroom, then I’ll sleep here. As long as we’re sleeping together, it doesn’t matter where.”
Aveline threw off the blanket, got out of bed, and stood beside it glaring at him. “Do you really have to put on such an act?”
Xavier lay there looking at her, his dark eyes indifferent. Though he didn’t speak, his attitude was clear: he was going to take the act this far.
The bed here was too small. If they slept here, it would be too crowded, and Aveline would definitely have to sleep pressed up against him.
Aveline picked up her phone and walked out of the guest room with a cold expression.
Behind her, Xavier chuckled softly, got out of bed, and followed her.
To Aveline, it was a mocking laugh, laughing at how she had no choice but to give in, completely powerless against him.
Once in the bedroom, Aveline went straight to bed, moving to one side. “Never again.”
After she left tomorrow, she was absolutely never coming back to the Beltran’s mansion,

Chapter 71
Xavier turned off the light, got into bed as well, and said calmly, “Is there really a point to this?”
Aveline kept her back to him, ignoring him.

That whole night, his scent kept drifting over to her. She found it hard to sleep, only falling asleep from sheer exhaus- tion without even realizing it.
The next morning, Aveline was woken up by her alarm.
She reached for her phone, only to find Xavier’s hand resting on her waist, his body pressed tightly against her back.
His masculine scent enveloped her completely, and his morning arousal was very obvious. Aveline’s body instinctive- ly stiffened.
Xavier’s deep, muffled voice came from above her head, “So noisy.”
Aveline snapped back to her senses, grabbed his hand and threw it off, then quickly sat up and got out of bed to grab her phone.
She turned off the alarm and looked up to see Xavier watching her with his eyes slightly narrowed, deep and hazy. Seeing her look over, he said in a slightly hoarse voice, “Trying to murder your own husband this early in the morn- ing?”
Aveline gave him a cold look, took her phone, and walked out of the bedroom to the guest room.
It was still early, and the mansion was quiet. The butler and maids were downstairs preparing breakfast.
After washing up in the guest room, Aveline went to the storage room and found a suitcase she had left here before. She first packed her things from the guest room, then went to Xavier’s bedroom.
Xavier was nowhere to be seen, but the sound of water came from the bathroom.
Aveline first went into the walk–in closet to pack all her clothes into the suitcase, then came out to the vanity to get her other belongings.
Just then, the bathroom door opened, followed by the sound of Xavier’s footsteps as he walked out.
Aveline ignored him, focusing on packing.
After she finished packing, she noticed he hadn’t made a sound and couldn’t help but turn her head to look.
She saw Xavier with only a bath towel tied around his waist. His upper body was firm and strong, his hair was wet and messy, still dripping water that trickled down his defined abs.
He just stood there, his dark eyes as still as an ancient well, watching her without blinking.

When is the novel ending? It’s so unnecessarily long… not a single intimacy or connection just fighting and bickering from the beginning to end...
