Chapter 730
“Mr. Beltran, if you’re not satisfied, then just fire me,” Aveline said with a hint of defiance in her voice.
Xavier chuckled softly, a smile playing on his lips. “You really know how to push my buttons. If it were anyone else, I might get annoyed and let them go, but I could never bring myself to do that with you.”
Without another word, Aveline opened the door and walked out, not bothering to glance back. “Well, that’s unfortunate. I suppose Mr. Beltran will just have to live with his frustration.”
Xavier muttered under his breath, “What I’m holding back is far more than just frustration.”
As he neared the small conference room, a sudden thought struck him. “The concept drawings you handed to Simon earlier today—why has Sebastian already seen them?”
Aveline replied coolly, her tone almost teasing, “If Mr. Beltran isn’t pleased, he can always fire me.”
With that, she pushed the door open and stepped inside the room.
Xavier lingered at the doorway, a wry smile tugging at the corners of his mouth. She truly had him wrapped around her finger. He wondered if that line would become her signature phrase.
Aveline settled at the table and resumed the discussion on the concept drawings with Simon and Jasmine.
Rebecca, standing nearby, noticed that Mr. Beltran hadn’t entered the room but was instead standing quietly by the door, his dark, intense eyes fixed on the table, seemingly locked on Aveline. Her heart skipped a beat.
Could it be that Mr. Beltran had feelings for Aveline?
That look in his eyes… it was as if he was completely smitten.
Oh my god, she hoped nothing unfortunate would come of this.
On such a massive project, if the CEO of the client company and the lead architect were to get embroiled in a scandal, would it jeopardize the entire project?
Rebecca stepped forward, gently blocking Xavier’s line of sight, and asked softly, “Mr. Beltran, would you like me to bring you a cup of coffee?”
Xavier nodded without hesitation. “Yes, please. Coffee would be great.”
—
“I’ll be back soon,” Rebecca said as she left the room.
Once she was gone, Xavier returned to the main conference room, pulled out his phone, and dialed Leona’s number, his expression cold and unreadable.
Leona was just arriving at the private dining room of the restaurant where she and Josephine had planned to have lunch. Seeing Xavier’s call, she opened the door, stepped inside, and answered.
“Hello? Calling to yell at me again?” she teased lightly.
And with Ms. Beltran’s fiery temper, who knew what kind of scene she might cause?
Still, Ryan knew better than to question Mr. Beltran’s decisions. He simply answered, “Yes, sir.”
—
Xavier ended the call and stepped out of the main conference room just as Amy approached.
“Mr. Beltran, Douglas and Alexander have already escorted Bryan back to the city. He’ll be held in a detention center for a few days,” she reported.
Xavier glanced at his watch and noticed it was nearly lunchtime.
“Let’s eat before heading back to the city,” he said. There was plenty to do at the company, including an important project meeting, so staying overnight at Mount Ardwood wasn’t an option.
“Reserve a private dining room for lunch. Order whatever my wife likes,” he instructed.
Amy nodded and hurried off to make the arrangements.
Returning to the small meeting room, Xavier saw Aveline still deep in conversation with Simon and Jasmine. He took a seat a few chairs away from them.
Rebecca soon brought him his coffee. He thanked her softly, took a sip, and kept his gaze fixed on Aveline, watching her every move.

When is the novel ending? It’s so unnecessarily long… not a single intimacy or connection just fighting and bickering from the beginning to end...
