Urging Him to Get a Divorce (Aveline and Xavier) novel Chapter 731

Chapter 731

Rebecca noticed something was off and debated whether she should approach Aveline again to gently remind her about whatever was troubling her. Earlier, Mr. Beltran had summoned Aveline to the main conference room. Although Rebecca didn’t know the details of their conversation, Aveline returned looking visibly upset and shaken.

Could Mr. Beltran have behaved inappropriately toward Aveline? Was she too frightened to speak up? Yet, was Mr. Beltran really the kind of man to cross that line?

Rebecca’s mind couldn’t help but drift toward Xavier.

Despite his intense gaze fixed on Aveline, Xavier caught Rebecca’s eyes from the corner of his own and turned toward her.

“Is something wrong?” he asked, his tone calm but curious.

Rebecca quickly shook her head. “No, Mr. Beltran. I’m fine,” she replied, forcing a small smile.

He studied her for a moment, sensing her discomfort. “Are you tired of being at Mount Ardwood? Would you rather return to the city?”

Again, Rebecca shook her head, a little more firmly this time. “No, Mr. Beltran. I like it here. I really enjoy this job.”

Xavier still looked unconvinced. “Are you sure? If you want, I can send someone else to replace you.”

He paused briefly, then added, “Or… would you like a raise?”

Rebecca was taken aback by the unexpected offer. A raise? Could this be her chance to ask for one?

Her hesitation made Xavier think she was interested.

“Alright,” he said decisively. “You’ll get a raise. I’ll talk to Ryan about it later. Stay close to Aveline. Once this project is done, there’s a promotion waiting for you.”

Rebecca’s feelings were mixed. On one hand, she was thrilled by the recognition and opportunity. On the other, a nagging worry crept in—should she warn Aveline if Mr. Beltran’s intentions were indeed questionable?

Mr. Beltran was undeniably a great boss—handsome, generous, and with a salary that was already quite good. The fact that he gave raises so easily was a bonus. But being a good employer didn’t necessarily mean he wasn’t a flirt or something worse.

Aveline was stunning and talented, so it wasn’t surprising that Mr. Beltran might be drawn to her. But didn’t Mr. Beltran already have a fiancée? Maybe Rebecca should find a chance to ask Mr. Barron about it. Perhaps he knew the truth.

Xavier took a sip of his coffee and noticed Rebecca’s silence. He glanced at her and asked, “Why aren’t you saying anything?”

Rebecca quickly answered, “Mr. Beltran, I’m just very grateful. Thank you. I’ll work hard.”

The group left the small conference room and took the elevator down to the restaurant.

At that same moment, Leona and Josephine were having lunch elsewhere.

After overhearing Leona’s tense phone conversation with Xavier, Josephine asked, “Leona, what’s Xavier mad about this time?”

Leona snorted. “What else? It’s because of Aveline.”

Josephine added some food to her plate and asked, “What about Aveline?”

Leona chewed her food before responding, “Bryan wanted money. Xavier refused, which is fine, but then he told Bryan to come to me. I was so angry, I told Bryan to go find Aveline. Now Xavier’s furious.”

“Hmph, he even threatened to take the Eastwood Park project away from my husband. The contract’s already signed. What can he do, tear it up?”

Josephine’s heart clenched at the mention of that project. It was the exact one her father had been pursuing.

If Xavier had helped her father secure that project, their company might have been revived, debts cleared, and her family spared from the current chaos.
