Urging Him to Get a Divorce (Aveline and Xavier) novel Chapter 738

**TITLE: A Divorce 738**

**CONTENT: Chapter 738**

“Brother-in-law, one of my earrings is missing,” Josephine’s voice echoed in Marcus’s mind, filled with a hint of urgency. “I’m not sure if I dropped it in the private dining room at the bar, in your car, or somewhere else entirely.”

Marcus furrowed his brow, a wave of irritation washing over him. Was she truly so careless, or was this some elaborate ploy? He couldn’t shake the feeling that there was more to this than met the eye.

“I’ll check the ear later,” he replied curtly, his fingers hovering over the screen of his phone, a sense of finality in his tone.

Josephine responded, “Okay, sorry to bother you.”

He paused, contemplating her words, but decided against further engagement. With a swift motion, he deleted all the messages, ensuring that Leona would remain oblivious to this exchange. The last thing he needed was for her to see this and jump to conclusions.

With a heavy sigh, Marcus lay back on his bed, staring at the ceiling, the weight of the day pressing down on him.

Meanwhile, Leona had left their home, her mind racing as she drove toward the Beltran mansion. The early morning sun cast a golden hue on the road, but her thoughts were anything but bright.

Upon her arrival, Rupert and Lauren exchanged glances, surprise flickering in their eyes at her early visit. Lauren, ever the concerned hostess, broke the silence, asking, “Have you had breakfast?”

Leona settled onto the plush sofa, the softness a stark contrast to the tension brewing inside her. “I have,” she replied, her voice steady but her mind elsewhere. “Did Xavier go to work?”

Rupert, engrossed in his newspaper, merely glanced up at her before returning to the pages, his silence speaking volumes.

“He’s just left. Why? Are you looking for him?” Lauren inquired, her brow furrowing in concern.

Leona hesitated, her heart racing. “If it’s about Jacob again, don’t bother him,” she warned, feeling the familiar frustration rise within her.

“It’s not about Jacob; it’s about Marcus,” she clarified, her voice sharp. “He helped Marcus secure that Eastwood Park project, but now he’s causing trouble because of our issues, which led to a fight between Marcus and me last night.”

Rupert finally looked up, curiosity piqued. “What problem does he have with you? What did you do now?” His tone was laced with skepticism.

Leona’s irritation flared. “I can’t be bothered to explain it all. Grandpa, regardless of the situation, Xavier promised to give the project to Marcus. He shouldn’t go back on his word.”

“Whatever issue he has with me, he should confront me directly. Targeting Marcus as a means of threatening me is unacceptable,” she added, her voice rising slightly in indignation.

Rupert, unfazed, replied, “In that case, go talk to Xavier about it. Don’t involve me.”

With that, he returned to his newspaper, dismissing her entirely, leaving Leona fuming. “Grandpa, are you really just going to let Xavier do whatever he pleases?” Her voice was a mixture of disbelief and anger.

Rupert’s response was flat. “The Beltran Group belongs to Xavier now. I have no say in these matters.”

“Knowing Xavier, he wouldn’t target you two like this unless you did something to provoke him,” he added, his eyes still glued to the paper.

Leona felt her blood boil. She wanted to stomp her foot in frustration. “Mom,” she turned to Lauren, seeking support.

Leona took a deep breath, recounting the events that had led to this moment, her voice laced with irritation and regret.

At that moment, Aunt happened to stroll in through the main gate, her ears catching the tension-filled conversation between mother and daughter.

Her eyes narrowed with curiosity. “Oh my, what’s going on here? What happened?”

“Why would you apologize to your sister-in-law, especially all the way out at Mount Ardwood?” she questioned, her tone incredulous.

“Leona has always been so sensible. Is this some kind of misunderstanding?” Aunt continued, her protective instincts kicking in.

Leona felt a wave of warmth wash over her at her aunt’s support, though she still felt trapped. “I have no choice. I have to apologize. Xavier is blaming me and even holding up his brother-in-law’s project.”

Aunt shook her head in disapproval. “That’s not right. How can Xavier be so emotional about this?”

“You should talk some sense into Xavier,” she advised Lauren, who felt a mix of helplessness and embarrassment at her aunt’s words.

Taking Leona’s hand, Lauren led her inside, the weight of the situation heavy on both of them.

“Alright, when Xavier gets back, I’ll talk to him,” she promised, hoping to soothe the brewing storm.

Seeing that Lauren had managed to calm Leona down, Rupert interjected, “Leona, that’s the Sutton family’s business. Stay out of it. It has nothing to do with you, understand?”
