Urging Him to Get a Divorce (Aveline and Xavier) novel Chapter 750

**A Divorce 750**

“She doesn’t give a damn whether I live or die. Here I am, teetering on the brink of bankruptcy. How can I even think of supporting a son if he comes into this world?”

A sudden, sharp pain gripped Courtney’s stomach, causing her to double over, a cry of distress escaping her lips.

Josephine’s heart raced with fear. “Mom! Mom! Are you alright? Please don’t scare me like this—what’s happening?”

The sight of his mother in pain sent Jacob into a frenzy of panic. “What the hell? It was just a slap! I didn’t even hit your stomach. Are you serious, or is this some kind of act?”

“Should I call for an ambulance?” he asked, his voice tinged with urgency as he took a step toward Courtney.

“Stay away from me!” she shouted, her voice sharp with defiance.

“Josie, help me upstairs. I just need to lie down for a bit,” Courtney managed to say, her breath shaky.

“Mom, are you sure you don’t want to go to the hospital?” Josephine pressed, concern etched on her young face.

Courtney took a moment to assess herself, feeling the pain dissipate. “No, it’s alright. I think it’s gone. Just help me upstairs.”

Jacob stood there, helpless, watching as the two women made their way upstairs. He thought about how he’d need to ask Courtney for the villa keys later. If it came to it, he could always hire someone to break in.

Once they entered the bedroom, Courtney instructed Josephine to close the door behind them. She moved to the sofa and sank into its cushions, exhaustion washing over her.

“Mom, aren’t you going to lie down in bed?” Josephine asked, concern still lingering in her voice as she approached her mother.

Courtney waved her hand dismissively. “I’m fine, really. The pain has faded. Maybe your little brother just kicked me because he felt bad about what Jacob did.”

Josephine gently placed her hand on Courtney’s round belly, a smile breaking through her worry. “Little brother is definitely going to be a wonderful son to you.”

Courtney smiled back, a flicker of hope in her eyes. “Of course he will.”

But then, a shadow crossed Courtney’s face, and she shifted the conversation. “Josie, I think it’s time we consider going into hiding for a while.”

Josephine’s brow furrowed as she processed her mother’s words. “Hide where? Some of our assets can’t just go with us. We can’t run from everything.”

Courtney’s expression hardened with resolve. “The jewelry, the paintings, the antiques—they’re all secured in a bank’s safe deposit box. As for the house, without the Property Deed, Jacob can’t sell it.”

“I’m pregnant,” she continued, her voice dropping to a whisper, “and I fear the loan sharks might come back, get violent, and hurt me.”
