**TITLE: A Divorce 752**
He held her for just a heartbeat longer, savoring the warmth of her presence, before he succumbed to the impulse and pressed a gentle kiss against her cheek. It was a fleeting moment, one that could have been tender, but he knew the storm brewing within her. As soon as their lips parted, he quickly stepped back, maintaining a safe distance while watching her with a playful half-smile dancing on his lips.
Aveline, of course, was seething with rage. The fire of her anger flickered just beneath the surface, ready to erupt like a volcano. But he had already retreated, leaving her with nothing but a sharp, icy glare that could have frozen the sun.
Xavier couldn’t help but chuckle softly, his eyes sparkling with mischief. “You know, when someone is as good-looking as I am, even their glare resembles that of a kitten—innocent and utterly harmless.”
Aveline chose to ignore him, her focus solely on the task at hand. She hastily stuffed the last of her belongings into her bag, her movements brisk and purposeful, before striding out of the conference room with an air of unyielding resolve.
With a briefcase in one hand and a laptop bag slung over his shoulder, Xavier hurried after her, extending a hand as if to offer assistance. But Aveline’s demeanor was as frigid as a winter’s night.
“Stay away from me. Don’t touch my things,” she snapped, her voice laced with venom.
Xavier’s smile widened, unfazed by her icy words. “Wouldn’t it be delightful to have you ordering me around like your very own assistant?” he teased, a lightheartedness in his tone that only fueled her irritation.
Aveline pressed the down button for the elevator, her expression as cold as the steel doors that stood before her.
Xavier stood beside her, contemplating whether to break the silence when, suddenly, his phone buzzed to life. He assumed it was the group from the private dining room, impatiently waiting for their meal, but as he glanced at the screen, he saw it was a call from Amy.
He answered with a simple, “Hello.”
“Mr. Beltran, I have some urgent news. Your wife has hired Laura to sue Jacob in court. She’s demanding her share of her mother’s inheritance and wants Courtney to return the marital assets Jacob gave her,” Amy informed him, her voice steady but urgent.
Xavier’s gaze flicked to Aveline, who was still resolutely ignoring him. “Okay, I understand,” he replied, his mind racing with the implications of her actions.
“Is there anything else?” Amy asked, her tone professional.
“No, that’s all,” he said, his thoughts already drifting back to the situation at hand.
“Have they started serving food in the private dining room? If not, please tell them to begin. My wife and I are on our way down,” he instructed before ending the call.
Just then, the elevator doors slid open, and Aveline stepped inside, with Xavier following closely behind her.
As he pressed the button for their floor, he couldn’t resist the urge to speak up. “So, you filed a lawsuit against your dad?” he queried, his curiosity piqued.

When is the novel ending? It’s so unnecessarily long… not a single intimacy or connection just fighting and bickering from the beginning to end...
