**A Divorce 769**
Marcus cast a fleeting glance at Xavier, his mind racing with disbelief. It couldn’t possibly be Xavier who had spilled the beans to Josephine. The very thought was absurd, for Xavier harbored a deep-seated disdain for her.
Josephine’s words echoed ominously in his mind: *”Maybe I planted a tracking device on you.”*
A chill ran down Marcus’s spine. Was it conceivable that Josephine had actually gone to the lengths of embedding a tracker in his belongings while he slept, completely unaware?
In a flurry of anxiety, he rummaged through his bag, his fingers trembling as he even extracted his wallet, rifling through it with growing urgency.
Patrick, seated next to him, raised an eyebrow and chuckled lightly, “What’s going on? Did you misplace something? You look like you’ve seen a ghost.”
Marcus managed a wry smile, the bitter taste of his predicament too complex to articulate. He continued his frantic search, his heart racing with each passing second.
To his dismay, nothing turned up in his bag or wallet. His phone, however, posed a greater challenge—he would have to dismantle it to be sure.
With a sense of urgency, he scanned the private dining room for Amy but found no trace of her. He approached Xavier, his voice laced with concern, “Do you know where Amy is?”
Xavier shrugged, a hint of suspicion in his gaze. “She’s probably outside. Need her for something?”
“Yeah, I’m going to go find her,” Marcus replied, determination coursing through him as he exited the room.
Xavier watched him leave, his brow furrowing slightly, sensing the tension radiating from Marcus.
Leaning in closer to Aveline, Xavier whispered conspiratorially, “You know, Josephine being here really has nothing to do with me. She’s just here to stir up trouble for Marcus.”
Aveline shot him a frosty look, dismissing him with a wave of her hand as she turned her gaze elsewhere.
Frustrated, Xavier pressed on, “The two of them have definitely hooked up.”
Aveline’s expression turned to one of disdain as she regarded him with a sneer. “Is that so? Josephine is quite the piece of work. Just what you’d expect from someone groomed by Courtney. No man can escape her clutches.”
Xavier felt a surge of anger at her insinuation, realizing she was once again lumping him in with them. It was infuriating, and he gritted his teeth, his voice low and tense. “You know damn well there’s nothing between her and me, but you just have to keep digging at me, don’t you?”
Aveline, unfazed, took a delicate sip from her teacup, her indifference only fueling his ire.
Meanwhile, Marcus stepped out of the private dining area, spotting Amy engrossed in her phone just down the hallway. He made his way over, urgency propelling him forward.
“Amy…” he called out, his voice tinged with urgency.
She glanced up, quickly wrapping up her conversation and disconnecting. “Mr. Prevost,” she greeted him, her expression shifting to one of curiosity.
“Can you check if someone secretly installed a tracker on my phone?” he asked, his tone serious.

When is the novel ending? It’s so unnecessarily long… not a single intimacy or connection just fighting and bickering from the beginning to end...
