Urging Him to Get a Divorce (Aveline and Xavier) novel Chapter 770

**A Divorce 770**

Amy had likely already dismantled the phone, or perhaps she had already scrolled through the messages. The tension in the air was palpable, thick enough to cut with a knife.

As everyone sat around the table, engaged in casual conversation and laughter, Lauren’s gaze drifted toward Marcus. A shadow seemed to hang over him, a subtle shift in his demeanor that did not go unnoticed. She leaned in, concern etching her features.

“Marcus, what’s troubling you?” she inquired gently, her voice laced with warmth. “Is the food not to your liking?”

All eyes turned to Marcus, their curiosity piqued.

Startled, he quickly shook his head, a forced smile plastered on his face. “No, it’s absolutely delicious,” he assured them, though his mind was clearly elsewhere. “I was just lost in thought about work.”

Xavier, sitting across the table, regarded him with a cold, calculating stare, a faint smirk tugging at the corners of his mouth.

Lauren’s heart sank as she remembered the ongoing project that Marcus had been so invested in, which was currently stalled due to Xavier’s interference. She felt a pang of frustration and knew that a serious conversation with Xavier was necessary later on.

Leona, sensing the tension, leaned closer to Marcus and whispered, “You’re not still upset with me, are you? Is that why you’re not eating?”

In a hushed tone, Marcus responded, “You need to apologize to Xavier right now. Tell him to hand over the project.”

Leona scoffed, rolling her eyes. “Just eat your food. There’s no chance he’ll relinquish the project he promised you. It would only embarrass him.”

Marcus felt a surge of anger, wishing he could pry open Leona’s mind to understand her thought process. He desperately craved a drink to wash away his frustration, but Xavier had deliberately refrained from ordering any alcohol, mindful of the seniors and children seated at the table.

He grabbed his drink and downed more than half of it in one go, the liquid burning a path down his throat.

Mason, sitting beside him, observed the scene with wide eyes and echoed something his mother had once told him. “Dad, no one’s fighting you for it.”

Marcus shot him a glare, silently cursing, “You little rascal. Your mom drives me crazy, and now you are too.”

Xavier had instructed Amy to investigate the relationship between Marcus and Josephine, and now that he had Marcus’s phone in his possession, he was determined to exploit this opportunity for his own gain.

Marcus’s password was simplistic, easily cracked by Amy, who wasted no time in rifling through his call history and messages.

With quick precision, she snapped photos of everything and sent them off to Xavier.

Xavier examined the images, a cold smirk playing on his lips as he stole a glance at Marcus, who remained blissfully unaware of the storm brewing just beneath the surface.

He then placed the phone in front of Aveline, gesturing for her to take a look at the incriminating evidence Amy had sent him.

Aveline shot him a frosty look, her disinterest evident as she turned her head away, unwilling to engage.
