Urging Him to Get a Divorce (Aveline and Xavier) novel Chapter 771

### A Divorce 771

Chapter 771

Rupert let out a hearty chuckle, his eyes sparkling with mischief. “You know, Mason, bitter melon is actually quite good for your health. You should try to eat it every now and then, if you can muster the courage,” he advised, his tone light and teasing.

Mason, not missing a beat, quickly replied, “Maternal great-grandfather, I really don’t like it, and I absolutely can’t eat it.” His face scrunched up in disdain at the mere thought of the vegetable.

Rupert’s smile widened, his affection for the boy evident. “Ah, I understand, my boy. I won’t force you to eat it. Just stick to what you enjoy,” he reassured, his voice warm and encouraging.

Patrick, ever the jokester, chuckled heartily, leaning back in his chair. “Oh, Mason, mark my words—one day, when you’re married and your wife serves you some, you’ll eat it just like your uncle does!” His laughter echoed around the table, a light-hearted jab that seemed to hang in the air.

Collin and Paulina exchanged uneasy glances, both acutely aware of the elephant in the room—Aveline’s recent decision to file for divorce. It was a secret they had kept from the rest of the group, who still believed Aveline and Xavier were a blissfully happy couple. The sight of Aveline piling bitter melon onto Xavier’s plate was perplexing to them, a gesture that felt laden with unspoken tension.

Aveline, however, appeared unfazed by Patrick’s teasing. She continued to eat her meal with a calm demeanor, her focus unwavering as she pushed the food around her plate.

Just then, the atmosphere shifted as Amy stepped into the private dining room. The moment Marcus spotted her, he sprang to his feet, his concern evident. “Amy, how did it go?” he asked, his voice tinged with urgency.

Marcus scrutinized Amy’s expression, searching for any signs of distress. She looked composed, which gave him a sliver of hope that she hadn’t seen the messages he had been anxiously sending.

Amy extended her hand, returning the phone to Marcus. “I’ve checked it thoroughly, sir. There are no tracking devices. You can relax now,” she assured him, her tone professional yet gentle.

“If you suspect someone might be following you, sir, I can also inspect your car and personal belongings,” she offered, her eyes steady and serious.

Marcus had just begun to feel a wave of relief wash over him, but her words jolted him back to his worries. “I’ve already checked my bag. Please, go check the car for me,” he urged, his voice rising slightly in urgency.

Without hesitation, he fished the car keys from his pocket and handed them to Amy, who accepted them with a nod before leaving the room.

Returning to his seat, Marcus felt a wave of unease settle over him. Leona, ever observant, leaned in closer. “What’s going on with you?” she asked, her brow furrowed in concern.

“It’s nothing serious,” Marcus replied, attempting to brush it off. “My phone was acting strange, so I asked Amy to take a look at it.”

Leona raised an eyebrow, intrigued. “Amy can fix phones too?” she asked, her curiosity piqued.

Marcus chose to ignore her question, shifting his gaze toward Xavier. He noticed Xavier was looking at him as well, but as soon as their eyes met, Xavier quickly averted his gaze, an action that sent a jolt through Marcus’s heart.
