Wake Up Leave The Liar novel Chapter 138

Chapter 116

Ashley’s initial reaction was to push Chase away.

“Relax,” he murmured. It seemed that he had anticipated her response. His hand tightened on her waist.

“You!” she exclaimed, struggling against his hold. She didn’t want to cause a scene.

Something must be up. She guessed he wanted to talk to her, hence the elaborate partner swap.

She stopped struggling, her voice cold.”What do you want?”

Chase looked down at her, seemingly unfazed by her coldness. He asked casually, “When are you planning to take Sam’s call?”

Ashley replied flatly, “Soon.”

Chase chuckled.”About ten days?”

Ashley hesitated.”…roughly.”

Even though they were divorcing, and even though she didn’t ask for custody of Sam, she still felt a mother’s responsibility. She planned to spend a day with Sam each month.

‘Good.”

The conversation seemed to have reached its end. There wasn’t much left to say between them. She glanced at him, signaling for him to let go

He didn’t, though. He asked, “How have you been lately?”

Ashley pursed her lips, unsure of his intentions.”That’s my business.” It was no longer his concern.

of her.

It looked like that Chase didn’t mean to ask that. When she didn’t answer, he didn’t press it. Without warning, he guided her off the dance floor and hen left.

The others were surprised by the sudden shift in dance partners.

Tanya’s lips tightened. But she quickly regained her composure. If Chase was going to fall for Ashley, he would have done it earlier.

Seeing Chase leave, Tanya also left the dance floor.”Did you talk to Ashley?”

Chase replied simply, “We talked about Sam.”

Tanya hummed in response. She knew he wouldn’t have talked to Ashley without a reason. A smile played on her lips as she invited him to dance again. He readily accepted.

Elsewhere, Tim was equally startled to see Chase dancing with Ashley. Learning that it was about Sam, he relaxed slightly.”Stay away from him.”

Ashley nodded. “I know.”

Just then, Matt approached. “Ms. Jones, I apologize for the abrupt partner switch without your consent.”

He’d noticed Ashley’s cold expression and her clear aversion to Chase. Clearly, she never wanted to dance with Chase.

Suddenly it dawned on Mart: Chase was Tanya’s boyfriend. There seemed to be some kind of friction between Tanya and Ashley. He surmised that Chase came to Ashley for Tanya.

Ashley shook her head.”It’s fine. It wasn’t your fault. If I were you, I would have done the same thing.”

Her tone was sincere and calm. She genuinely didn’t blame him.

While dancing with Ashley, Matt had noticed she wasn’t a social butterfly. She was quiet and reserved, her gaze devoid of any ulterior motives. She treated him purely as a temporary dance partner.

Matt extended his hand.”May I have another dance?”

Ashley was taken aback. He wasn’t hitting on her; it was a sincere apology and gesture of goodwill. She accepted his invitation.
