Chapter 153

Ashley bought movie tickets for the kids. After the movie, they went shopping. While Sheldon tried on clothes and Henry bought figurines, Ashley told Sam, “Mommy will take you home later.”
“Home?” Sam, sitting beside her, said, “I’m not going home. I’m staying at Great-grandmother’s again, and going back tomorrow night.”
Ashley took a sip of water. “Sheldon and Henry have spent the whole day with you. They need to do their homework tomorrow, and you’ll disturb
them.”
“I won’t. I have my iPad.”
Ashley said nothing but texted Chase to have someone pick up Sam later. He didn’t respond immediately.
After shopping, they went back to Amanda’s. Amanda and Steve were happy to see Sam. He was sweet and even went for a walk with Amanda after dinner, charming her greatly.
Chase still hadn’t replied. Sam stayed at the Jones residence that night.
The next day, Sheldon and Henry stayed in their rooms to study. Sam kept his word, playing alone downstairs or sitting quietly beside Ashley.
Chase texted that he’d send someone to pick up Sam. Ashley didn’t reply. A few seconds later, Sam’s phone rang.”It’s Daddy.”
Ashley hummed in acknowledgment. After the call, Sam said, “Mommy, Daddy wants to take me out…”
I know, he told me. Go ahead if you want.”
“Okay!”
Thirty minutes later, the car arrived. Amanda, reluctant to see Sam go, gave him lots of snacks. Watching the car leave, she grumbled, “I thought he was generous, but…he wants Sam back after only two days.” She entered the house, looking wistful.
Ashley’s phone rang. It was Daniel.
“I met with Chase’s lawyer. The new agreement is ready. The three added properties are worth about a billion, and everything looks good.”
Ashley said, “Okay, I understand.”
Daniel continued, “Mr. Sterling’s lawyer said he could advance some funds to your account if you needed.”
Chase must have misunderstood her, but it made sense. The gifts he sent Amanda had been auctioned, and the money was in Steve’s account. They weren’t short of cash. But…
Ashley said, Advance it is.” Before the official divorce, anything could happen. Since he was offering, why couldn’t she accept it? She might not get it later.
Daniel said, Okay, I understand.”
After Sam left, Ashley went upstairs and opened her laptop. About an hour later, Daniel sent her some documents.
The first thing she saw was the three properties, their locations clearly marked. She paused. Those were vacant properties in the Jones family’s neighborhood, close to the Jones residence.
Chase had sent her the house across from Amanda’s previously, but this didn’t fully alleviate her concerns. Even though the Holdens wouldn’t live opposite her grandma, what if they lived in the same neighborhood? That would meant frequent encounters, which was something she didn’t want
either. But now…
Chase was again addressing her concerns? While he was likely just expressing gratitude and preventing misunderstandings, these properties did ease her
mind. She wouldn’t refuse it.
She opened another document. It read Chase was advancing two billion for her. She’d already known how rich he was, but she was still surprised.
After confirming everything was in order, she contacted Daniel. The money was transferred shortly after she signed the documents. Chase’s lawyer said the property transfer was in progress and the deeds would arrive in a couple of days.
