Chapter 164
Just as Ashley was wondering, Zark spotted her car and walked to her.
Ashley slowly lowered her window.”Mr. Green.”
‘Morning.”
Ashley nodded. “Morning.” She asked, “What can I do for you?”
Zark actually had no particular business here. He was just thinking about his speculations from the night before.
He said, “Saturday night, at that restaurant, I saw you, Mr. Reed, and Mr. Burke.”
Before Ashley could ask why he mentioned it, he asked, “You’re Mr. Burke’s student, just like Mr. Reed, right?”
Ashley froze, frowning at him.”You-”
Zark saw the answer in her reaction.
So, you led the development of Eternal’s two projects?”
Ashley pursed her lips. “What on earth do-”
“One last question,” Zark said. “Eternal’s CUAP… was that also your creation?”
While he didn’t understand programming languages, his businesses touched on related fields. He knew how groundbreaking CUAP was. As far as he knew, CUAP existed from the very beginning of Eternal. If this guess was also correct… that meant Ashley had developed such a powerful language
system at 17.
Tanya hadn’t even touched the surface of CUAP, yet Ashley created it years ago. It highlighted just how incredibly skilled Ashley was in this field!
Everyone praised Eternal’s cutting-edge technology. It wasn’t Tim who was truly brilliant; it was Ashley.
Ashley remained silent. Zark had already reached his conclusion. Even though he’d anticipated it, it was still shocking.
He looked at her, remembering recent events and past interactions. He realized he’d never truly understood her.
Ashley finally spoke, her lips barely moving.”You came here just to ask me this?”
I was incredibly surprised, and I needed an answer.”
Zark hadn’t planned to ask her these questions before he saw her. Given their current relationship, it was not appropriate. But he just blurted it out the moment he saw her, surprising even himself.
Before Ashley could reply, Zark continued, “Don’t worry, I won’t tell anyone else.”
Ashley paused. She saw the sincerity in his eyes. She didn’t respond.
Zark took a step back, creating distance.”Go ahead, I won’t bother you.” He turned and left.
Frowning, Ashley drove into the underground parking lot and went upstairs.
Besides working, Ashley and Tim diligently studied the materials Burke gave them. They worked for a long time every day, arriving early and leaving
late.
More than ten days passed. One morning, Ashley had to pick up a business partner at the airport. After waiting twenty minutes, Mr. Brooks finally arrived. As Ashley was about to greet him, she spotted a familiar figure behind Brooks. It was Mark.
Ashley showed no change in expression. Mark didn’t see her, but young man next to him excitedly waved towards the other side of the exit.”Mom, Sis,
Dad and I are here!”
Ashley’s steps faltered. She suddenly realized who it was. Looking over, she saw Vivian and Tanya. Neal dashed towards them.
Ashley’s business partner, Mr. Brooks, greeted her cheerfully.”Ms. Jones.”
Ashley relaxed her clenched hand, met his gaze, and smiled, shaking his hand. “Mr. Brooks, it’s good to see you.”
Finally, Vivian and Mark noticed Ashley. Mark frowned. Vivian’s smile faded. Tanya remained expressionless and indifferent.
Unaware of what was happening, Neal followed his parents’ line of sight, then exclaimed at the sight of Ashley, Wow, she’s pretty!” Tanya frowned at him. Mark paused, patted Neal’s shoulder, and said, “Let’s get in the car.”
