Chapter 298
That evening, when Ashley was about to get off work, Sam called her.
Tomorrow is Saturday, Sam called her, probably wanting to come find her.
But she wasn’t free tomorrow.
Tomorrow, she was going to go to the Nursing Home with Amanda and the others, to consult with the doctor about her mother’s treatment and
medication.
So, she didn’t answer Sam’s call.
On Saturday, after arriving at the Nursing Home, Ashley found that Lucy was even thinner than what they had seen a few days ago, her hair was dry and withered, and there was no color in her face at all.
The doctor explained: The medication she was taking previously for her mental condition caused some damage to her liver and kidneys. It wasn’t an issue before, but given her current organ failure, it’s no longer suitable for her to take, so we stopped some of her medication. These past few days, her mental state has been very poor, and combined with needing to take antibiotics for organ failure, her body is under a lot of strain right now…”
Ashley tightened her grip on her bag, nodding to show understanding.
Afterward, Ashley and Steve chatted with the doctor for a long time, until noon, before leaving the Nursing Home.
As they were leaving the Nursing Home, Sam’s call came in again.
Ashley pursed her lips and hung up.
After that, Sam didn’t call again.
However, in the afternoon, Cindy, who returned from abroad yesterday, called her to invite her out shopping.
Ashley was not in a good mood and actually didn’t want to go out. Plus, Amanda hadn’t been feeling well lately, so she stayed home to keep her
company.
Amanda, however, patted the back of her hand and said, “Don’t mope around, it’s good to go out and clear your head.” Ashley:”…Okay.”
After Ashley changed her clothes, she left the house.
Cindy had been busy with her fashion show abroad for the past few months. During this period, they were both busy with their own things, so they didn’t have much time to contact each other.
After they met and chatted for a while, Cindy learned that Lucy had health problems.
Cindy stopped drinking her bubble tea, her mood also becoming somber. After a long pause, she comforted Ashley, saying, “Auntie… will definitely get better.”
Ashley prayed the same way.
However, Lucy’s physical condition was indeed rapidly deteriorating.
In fact, she and the rest of the family understood that her chances of getting better were low,
‘I didn’t know this; if I had, I wouldn’t have asked you to come out.”
“It’s fine.” Ashley shook her head, about to speak, but turned her head and saw two familiar figures. Her eyes suddenly turned cold.
Cindy followed her gaze and realized it was Mark and Vivian.
Vivian was dressed luxuriously and had an elegant demeanor. Nearing fifty, she still looked under forty.
Mark also seemed to pay great attention to his appearance; over fifty, his figure remained tall and upright. The two of them looked quite well-matched and loving.
They were dressed casually, clearly out for a date, and seemed to be in a good mood.
Vivian and Mark didn’t see them.
Mark held Vivian’s hand, accompanied her as she carried bags and picked out clothes, looking like a good husband.
Cindy watched, gritting her teeth in anger, and said, “Why do they get to live so well? This world is really unfair.”
Ashley lowered her gaze.
Yeah, it’s very unfair.
Cindy paused here and said, “Forget about them, the most infuriating thing is, Chase still…”
Now that Ashley and Chase are divorcing, with Chase, the Mond Family’s life will probably get better and better.
But Lucy still…
