Wake Up Leave The Liar novel Chapter 35

Chapter 12

Sam was close to Amanda. In the past, Ashley always took Sam to see Amanda.

But Sam hadn’t called her since he came back. Instead, he called Tanya every day.

Ashley didn’t want to force him. And if Amanda knew about this, she’d be furious.

So, she went to visit Amanda alone.

Traffic was bad. She arrived at 6:30 pm. Amanda looked at her, stroking her face, “You’ve lost weight.”

Ashley said, I’ve been busy.”

Amanda sighed. “You should eat more, honey.”

I will.”

Ashley sat with Amanda, feeling comforted. Amanda asked the maid to bring her some soup. Ashley remembered what had happened recently and her eyes welled up. She swallowed the tears and asked, “Are the others still traveling?”

Yes. They’ll be back a week late.”

“What about Uncle David? Is he having a business dinner tonight?”

“He’s coming home for dinner. He pushed it back because you’re here.”

Her uncle David arrived. Seeing Ashley, he frowned. “You’ve lost weight! Haven’t you been eating?”

Ashley smiled.”I was busy… I’ll eat a lot tonight.”

He kept serving her meat. She could tell he was tired too. His company was struggling. Things would be better if Chase gave him a hand, but he didn’t. But except for the two times when Emily ordered him, Chase never helped. If not for Emily, Chase would probably destroy David’s company.

Ashley smiled bitterly. Even though David needed help, he never asked her to turn to Chase.

After dinner, Ashley gave David a card with 7 million bucks.

‘Ashley, I don’t need this.”

“I don’t need it either.” She gave him the card.”This is all I can do.” She was good at research but not business. Luckily, she had VR patents and annual dividends from her company, earning tens of millions a year even without working.

David felt ashamed. “You’ve already given me a lot of money, but the company…”

Im sorry!”

It’s okay. Failure happens all the time. Don’t stress yourself.”

She thought of Tim’s words. The VR field is booming. If you hadn’t given it up for marriage, our company would be worth billions. We still have a chance. Come back.”

If she could come back to the field, she could help her uncle more.

Chase arrived home at 10 pm. Sam rubbed his eyes.”Daddy, you’re back!”

“Yes. Go to bed if you’re tired.”

Sam went to bed. Chase took a glass of water and went upstairs. The bedroom was dark and empty. Chase switched on the light.

He didn’t think much of it, assuming Ashley had gone to her family’s. Then, he remembered that she usually took Sam with her. However, Sam was here.

She didn’t go to her family’s? Or was something wrong? He remembered what Justin said and knew something was off. He paused, but decided not to dig in.

The next morning, Chase said to Sam, “Your school enrollment is complete. You’ll go to school tomorrow morning.”

“Okay, Sam frowned. “Will you take me, Dad?”

I might be busy.”

“Okay, Sam’s eyes lit up. I ask Aunt Tanya to take me.”

Before Chase could respond, his phone rang-it was his grandmother.

“I heard you’re back.”

“Yes.”

Did Sam come back too?”

“Yes,”

I miss him. Have dinner with me, Ashley, and Sam tonight.”

“Okay.”
