Chapter363.
Lucy had been sick for a few days. On Saturday morning, after visiting Lucy.
Ashley drove to see Emily at her hospital. Chase and Sam were there when she arrived.
Emily had been feeling better these past few days, and when she saw Ashley, a smile lit up her face.
While Ashley talked with Emily, Chase didn’t interrupt. After pouring Ashley a glass of water, he sat down and peeled apples for Sam and Ashley.
When he handed Ashley a small plate of peeled, sliced apples, she took it reluctantly and said,“Thank you.”
“No problem.”
Seeing them sit calmly and exchange a few polite words, Emily sighed quietly.
Ashley had stayed with Lucy for a while, and after sitting with Emily for over half an hour, it was time for Emily’s meal.
Emily glanced at Chase.”I have help with my meals, and Ashley visits me every day. Chase, why not invite her out for a meal?”
Ashley started to refuse, but Emily patted her hand and shook her head.”I don’t mean anything by it.”
She looked at Chase as she said this.
She wasn’t trying to set them up.
Like Ethan, she noticed that since deciding to divorce, Chase and Ashley got along much better.
She was glad to see that.
They still had their son, Sam. Even if no longer married, keeping some goodwill between them was a good thing.
Chase looked at Ashley.”What do you want-Local or foreign food?”
Sam, excited to eat out with Ashley, tugged his hand.”Yeah, Mom, what do
you
want?”
Ashley hesitated, then said, “Local.”
Chase stepped away to take a call. Emily leaned in and said quietly, “Ashley, I means no harm. Since you’ve moved on and Chase has softened, if you get along, it’ll be better for Sam.”
Given Chase’s deep love for Tanya, thinking a little goodwill could come between them was wishful thinking.
As for Sam…
Ashley didn’t say much. After a few more words with Emily, she left the hospital room.
Once inside the private room, Ashley ordered their food. Her phone rang, and she stepped out to answer it. She’d barely started talking when she spotted Mary and Catherine.
Chase had his own private room reserved here.
Catherine and her mom often came over, eating and taking things, all on Chase’s tab.
It was only after Mary and Catherine arrived at the restaurant that they found out Chase was there too.
They didn’t think anything of it, just figuring he was on a business dinner, and asked for another private room,
But when they saw Ashley standing right outside Chase’s private room, they immediately froze.
