Chapter 404.
Tanya looked over too.
Before, she’d totally thought Tim and Ashley were a thing.
But after finding out about Ashley’s real connection to William and Eternal, she wasn’t so sure anymore.
Tanya noticed it too. After Ethan threw out that question, Chase also glanced at Zark. Seemed like he was pretty invested in the answer too.
Tanya’s lips thinned.
Ethan saw it, but he just figured Chase was purely curious.
Zark, though, went quiet for a second after hearing that.”Why don’t you go ask?” he finally said.
Ethan:…
He took that as Zark not caring about Ashley and Tim’s whole deal.
No one was biting on his gossip, so he just pouted, bored.
Tanya heard Zark’s answer, and a subtle, sarcastic smirk played on her lips.
If she hadn’t known Zark’s true feelings for Ashley, she’d totally be like Ethan, thinking Zark just wasn’t into Ashley and wanted nothing to do with talking about her.
By saying nothing, he was actually protecting Ashley.
And just like that, a thought hit her. A question she’d been ignoring this whole time suddenly clicked.
Zark probably already knew. Knew that Ashley was William’s student. Knew she was one of Eternal’s founders.
He just hadn’t been covering for Ashley. He just decided to let them know.
Right then, David arrived. A few other government officials were with him.
But out of all those officials, David was the only one actually close with Ashley and Tim.
Derek, Calvin, and Edward? They were nowhere to be seen.
Derek’s absence was whatever. But Calvin and Edward openly had no dealings with Ashley and her crew.
If all of them had shown up, it would’ve been way too much. Seriously, their banquet hall probably wouldn’t even fit those two big shots.
David arrived with two gifts. After some quick pleasantries, he pulled Ashley and Tim aside. “One of these is from your Uncle Derek,” he said quietly “He’s swamped with work, couldn’t make it himself. But he said even though he wasn’t here, the gift had to be sent.”
Derek’s gift wasn’t necessarily anything super expensive. But Ashley and Tim genuinely felt the thought behind it.
Jeffery walked over a moment later, spotting David.”Uncle David,” he said.
David smiled Jeffery, you’re here too?”
“Yep,” Jeffery replied. As he chatted with David, a sudden buzz erupted from outside. Then, just as quickly, an unsettling silence fell.
Ashley and Tim glanced over. And there they were: William and Riley, standing right at the entrance, in the reception area.
Ashley and Tim were about to excuse themselves to go welcome William and Riley. But before they could even speak, William and Riley were already walking straight toward them.
Riley was practically beaming. The second she spotted them, she let go of William’s arm, spread her arms wide, and practically ran over.”Pretty Ashley,
Tim, we made it!”
